I also excel at walking into a punch.

Lighten up, this fight coming up is just a money changing scheme.

Your money going to them.

Business, just business.

Don't take it personally.
Exactly.

Mean whilst I would still bet on CM, just because it seems everyone says he can't do it.
Now, i do not think he is the best man for the job at all.
Diaz explained that to him very well.
But we get what we gets .
Hopefully, he will pop a can of spinach just B4 the fight.
I would not bet on either. Kach nailed it - this is all about business, just business. The business of taking our money to see this over-hyped entertainment event. Fighting has nothing to do with it. If it did, under strict boxing rules, the MMA fighter has no chance. If the promoters really wanted a fight, however, they would have chosen someone else in both disciplines. They want a show, so they picked loud mouthed showmen that people love to hate. They don't care who wins - they only care who watches. As such, this "fight" cannot be predicted on either man's skills, fitness, heart, determination, or any of the usual indicators. They are just puppets, with the promoters pulling their strings.

I read that they're on the same private jet as they scoot from city to city acting out their show.
I can just see them discussing and agreeing upon some script.
.
It strikes me that when CM agreed to the Q's rules, he basically conceded any outcome in his favor. Thus, it's all about $$$$$$$$$$$ and nothing else.
The rest just may be giving the paying sucker a little entertainment.
.
I just might pay to see a highly skilled boxer face off against Anderson Silva - no rules.

I've seen way too many guys with those cheap ass b.s. little belts get their asses kicked in real fights, both in and out of the ring. They hand them out to arrogant idiots like you as a way of keeping you on the hook, and paying, at your local dojo as you "progress".

I used to think it was pretty entertaining to see some of the cockier of your lot, believing their own press, getting pounded like a tent stake by some fat, out of shape, middle aged bar brawler, or biker, or someone like that. Been awhile since I've seen that, though, since I haven't hung out in biker bars for 30 some-odd years.

No wonder you think McGregor has a real chance - you think you would, in a real fight, have one as well. *Sigh* - go pull your P.J.'s on and "train", Mr. Badass.
LMAO....Now I know your clueless. You must be thinking Taekwondo or Karate Mcdojos. No one that knows anything about Brazillan Jiu jitsu would ever say that belts are given out. Why do you think I said it takes at least 10 years to be a high level grappler. I have been training for 7 years and am only a Purple Belt. Thats 2 belts in 7 years. The bikers and bar brawlers you speak of come in from time to time but they dont stay because they dont like getting choked out by a small guy lol. I never once said I would beat up anybody, you guys did. Im confident in my skill set only because unlike being a tough bar brawler, ground fighting is completely different. Nobody is good at ground fighting without training, NOBODY. simply because your instincts are 100% opposite of what you should do, and it takes YEARS to reprogram that, which is why it takes years to move up in belt rank. If Im on top of you in a ground and pound position I guarantee you will throw you arms out to protect your face. When you do this you give up your arm to be arm bared. If you turn over you give up your back and I choke you out by rear naked choke. If you turn to your side I Kumora you. There is no escape if your not trained, its just that simple. Its Jui Jitsu that Im bragging about not myself. Brazillan Jiu Jitsu is all based on leverage, positioning, which eliminates the other guy from using his strength. Unlike other martial arts we roll or spar at 100% every time we train, with every body type. There are big guys small guys tall short, whatever, you roll with anyone so if you do run up against the big biker guy your used to it. A few of our guys are over 6'5" 275lbs and in their late 20's. Not a big deal. Its a foreign concept to you. If peoples natural instincts in a fight were to put their hands behind their back, but you knew how to override your instincts due to training in boxing, it wouldnt be a fair fight. In regards to other BJJ guys my skill level I'm okay, but compared to a person not trained in ground fighting, its just not fair. Sorry thats life. If I played golf 4-5 times a week for the past 7 years Im pretty sure id be good at that too. If you dedicate 4-5 times a week doing anything and an average joe who does nothing beats you its time to pick up a new hobby. LMAO

This is how it will go down for most street fights when you fight a Jiu jitsu guy.

dude give it a rest please, for all of us.

When does the humility and perspective and self control training start?

Don't make me guess at year 8.

Great.

Now, let's make that relevant to this thread. Get in a ring with an experienced boxer and post the video on here.

Who knows? It might be more fun to watch than Conor v Floyd.

"...mamby-pamby "martial arts"..."
~~~~~~~~~~
That's quite the judgment, Jeff. I'm thinking that you may have gotten caught up in yourself.
I can't imagine anyone making that statement who watched even the most limp-wristed and boring MMA bout.
I'd hazard a guess that when in my prime I'd incur less damage being confronted by a skilled boxer than a skilled MMA.
My thoughts, anyway.
Nailed it again. This is why I brought up the August pool match. It's results have a much better chance of being legit than this circus freak show. "Step right up, folks...see the two headed monkey, the sultan's haram, and the jungle boy!"
Okay you one upd me, I concede I'm not training to kill anyone. I am the first one to admit I'm a hobbyist. Im just passionate about Brazillian Jiu jitsu. The whole honor, respect, humility thing is more of a Hollywood karate Mr Miagiee thing. BJJ is built on the science of how the body works. It is a game, I admit that. I love fighting in a controlled environment but I do not like violence. I dont think Ive advocated violence in this entire thread. Im just confident in the sport that Im passionate about. If that bothers you, add me to your ignore list.
Sorry, I wasn't trying to be insulting. Very much.
You just seem to be really defensive of it, almost to the point of insecurity. Which seems counterintuitive to the mindset of (what I know about) martial arts.
Cheers for being passionate about it.
I boxed a great deal growing up. My father boxed at West Point and taught me how to fight early. This was in the 60's when Brazillian Jiu Jitsu might as well have been an appetizer along with the Poo Poo Platter at the O'Club on Friday nights.
I never fought in a sanctioned match and I never fought without headgear. I did fight in a few smokers but always with headgear.
My best friend growing up was an amazing athlete, all California Interscholastic Federation 4A football player of the year his junior and senior year. His older brother was smaller than Mark and did not play football, he wrestled. He was an above average wrestler but not great. Mark had two other brothers and they were very, very good athletes.
My freshman year in HS we are all dicking around in the backyard with Mark and Paul, the older brother and the two youngsters. Boxing gloves come out. Predictably, I pretty much have my way with the whole family right up until we decided to wrestle.
F me running. I had been in a few fights in school but if you can fight word gets out. I had never been on the ground in any fight, never got that far.
Not anymore. The ground is a different planet and I was the nameless young LT in Star Trek wearing the red tunic beaming down to Planet Kick My Ass with Kirk...I was dead before Spock said, "indubitably" or whatever the F he was known for. Paul was all over me like a shroud.
Anyway, unless CM gets a rush that is legal and connects, it could be a long, long night. Boxers box.
