Any Cord Cutters using YouTubeTV ??
Seriously looking to cut the cord as ComCast cable bill is outrageous. I've had no problem with ComCast service, outages or support to speak of, just the monthly bill is enough to choke you.
YouTubeTV is the first option I've seen which appears that it will really work for us as far as channels offered, cost and DVR capability and ease of use. If any users out there in Pelican land, what say ye ?? Is it as advertised ?

Because of the way cable operators bundle stuff it's not uncommon to find that eliminating one part of a bundle increases the cost of the remaining parts and once you factor in the cost of the replacement service, youtube tv for example, you end up with less total value.

I did not realize how much TV ruled my life until I cut the cord. I never watch network TV anymore.
I never watch any news. I stream some shows that interest me when I have the time. I stream movies I want. I watch F1 on Kodi and watch the Sky feed, I pity anyone that has to watch the US NBC feed anymore. I had Direct TV ($160 a month) and I already had high speed internet. I bumped the speed up on the internet ($20 more a month) and I bought a Amazon Fire TV box. We then chose some services we wanted, Showtime, HBO and Netflix. All 3 cost us $30 a month give or take. We already had prime so we get their offerings too. More content than I will ever have time to go through. I know nothing about You Tube TV, if it is anything like Fire TV then you may or may not like it. It changes the way you watch TV. For me, it made me realize I was watching too much TV.

Have YoutubeTV on my AppleTV box. Never have signed in to get charged. At first I watched some of the vines. Now I stream free full movies people have posted. Stuff there I have never seen or heard of before. Some good, and some sucky.

Yes, I know broadband/cable modem/wifi are still required. Currently have 3 computers/tablets on the wifi and am currently streaming Netflix and Amazon Prime. I just want to eliminate ComCast Infinity programming and equipment charges and YouTubeTV offers all the channels we watch for what I think will be a lot less. I can get HBO/Showtime etc. through Amazon Prime if I decide to and Netflix is free as we use my granddaughters account. Would just have to see what the cost for continued broadband through Comcast + YouTubeTV + HBO/Showtime would be to see if it is worth it. Just wondering if anyone is actually on YouTubeTV and could give me any reviews ??

Sorry but I haven't used the Youtube channel but I heard a story about it on the radio. IIRC the main push was the ability to watch local network tv. This wasn't a big area of interest to me as I use OTA antenna for local and Fire tv to draw in cable thru the use of Playstation Vue.
The Youtube channel didn't seem to offer anything that I couldn't get already. The price point was 35 a month.

The effort we had to go to to to save a very few bucks just wasn't worth it. There appears to be a shakeup going on. Time Warner became Spectrum a few months ago. My bundle with TW included $20 a month for " faster" 20mbps internet and $3 for "enhanced" DVD. Now, with Spectrum 60mbps internet is standard and so is the DVr - no extra charge. Just by calling and saying I didn't want all that and a few premium channels Lowered my bill by $30 and I didn't lose anything except some programming I never watch. Of course they wouldn't voluntarily tell me I was paying an extra $20 a month for substandard internet service. They would have continued to charge me the premium and give me 20mbps forever had I not called.

I just went through this exercise. Turned out to be pretty much a wash. The price of internet went from $29 to $69 when it wasn't bundled with programming.

It's 20-ish Mbps now. $45. One user only. Fine for Youtube/Netflix. Have not tried Youtube TV.

Digital antenna outside works flawlessly. You get local networks, for free.
I only have cable now since my mom comes over for long stretches, she likes TV. First time in a decade I have actual cable. With that said, I haven't tuned in for 2 months now... I guess I'm missing otut on the latest celebrity gossip and hip hop dance moves. Oh darn ![]() rjp

Typically 12 minutes of a movie followed by 3 minutes of commercials. Is it any wonder they're failing.

Also, why are all the tv shows the same theme on all channels, just with different characters? Why is the subject matter so dumb? Why are people entertained by this? I'd rather watch kooky conspiracy videos on YouTube for DAYS before I watch an hour of primetime garbage. It's mindless. The only two shows I figure I missed off TV: 1)- sopranos (and I missed the first 3 seasons until I forced myself to watch)- then I got HBO, and promptly cancelled it at the end of each season. 2)- Top Gear UK- which was dead and gone by the time I discovered it. I now have Amazon Prime and YouTube to binge on. rjp

Gotten to where I can't watch programming when it first airs on most all networks. They typically run 10 or more commercials in a row. I either loose interest, fall asleep, or both. It's gotten absolutely ridiculous. Find a replay of the programming where it has less commercials, only at the beginning, only one each break, or not at all.

FYI, any of you cord cutters that use Kodi, be very careful moving forward if you have ANY questionable add on's...things are about to get messy.

Google Fiber today was featured in an article on page 7 of the Charlotte Observer offering You Tube TV streaming on all screens for $35. per month, no contract. It is available in any of the cities with Google Fiber. The article says the program is designed for millennials.

I couldn't do that down here. I was paying $65 for basic broadband plus "Turbo broadband" to bump it from 15 to 20mbps. All they offer now is 60mpps for $69. I think they are keeping an eye on Amazon, Hulu, Netflix, etc and lowering their content prices to compete, then raising broadband access prices to keep their margins up.

Based on other comments posted in this thread I guess my wife and I would be considered TV addicts by some. We are both in 70's and long retired and we watch TV probably 2-2 1/2 hours a night but NEVER watch commercials as any shows that have commercials are DVR'd so we can fast forward through commercials. As to TV content today? IMO the broadcast channels are a vast wasteland (except for Jeopardy which we tape every day) as others have posted. However, between Amazon Prime, Netflix, BBC, AMC, FX, HBO and Showtime and a couple of others there is some great programming, you just have to find it and obviously YMMV.
