+1 for tubeless. Those beads are tight!

I accept that my mojo may be poor but I resort to the big metal parks tire levers for my tubeless mtb tires. Always at risk of bunging up the rim...

(Mojo was good with road and mtb tires way back when - rarely levers off and never levers on - maybe my thumbs have atrophied?)

I'd pay $30 for a clean and damage free mount of a new tubeless, if I get sealant and hopefully a valve stem.

Yup... brought my 911 to a local shop to fix some oil leaks and some other things.

He did a great job and worked on it like it was his own, unfortunately, he charged me full rate. That stung...
Why did it sting? Was he a buddy you thought was going to give you a discount? The bike shop guys, guys who will work on older cars or motorcycles, the ones who will work on it like their own are a dying breed. They need to make a living too. I have been happy to hand my car over to the John Walker's and Chris Powell's of the Porsche world, or my bike to the guy I bought it from who built the amazing wheel set upgrade.

BTDT. Learned the difference between an estimate and quote the reallllllyyy hard way when building my house. That resulted in 3 mortgages at one time and combined with a bad 930 purchase to kill all my faith in business people.

Also, my daughter had corrective foot and ankle surgery this summer. 4.5 hour surgery, 3 days in hospital for pain control. Bill will exceed $130K. While insurance will address the majority of it, it's still absurd.

GH85Carrera 08-21-2017 09:59 AM

That 130k is paying for all the other folks with no insurance that get the same operation for free.

Haha - that was funny. I eat the urchin right on the beach when I return from a dive. It is good, but not $100 good.

no kidding, but it was fresh! :)

A friend of a friend did some plumbing work for me. I helped out holding and schlepping materials. How much? Ah, not much he says. Lets see how long it takes. I'll never do that again.

I had an 18 ft Hydrostream speed boat and took it in to a performance shop and asked them to take a look at what it needed. They called me with a question and I asked what they had done so far. $4500 is what we have done on your $7000 boat.
I'm on my way to pick it up I said!

hahah..OMAKASE got me bad!!

i hit up a great sushi joint in (of all towns) Cotati, CA. everyone spoke japanese..the sneaky dude behind the bar, in thick accent..offers me an Uni-nigiri,and said something about the urchin being from his home waters in JAPAN!!

i kid you not, the first hit was free. like an idiot, i looked at my wife..then the sushi chef..and said, "what else do you have?"

i got monkfish liver, abalone liver, etc...stuff i never tasted before.

wife and i got the tab..holy crap. it was shocking, considering my salary. hahaha..(i didnt click that link above..which i assume was way bigger)

Don't most uni come from Cali?

My 930 went in for paint correction. I hope I don't faint when I see the bill!

yes. he actually gave us some from CA. mendocino waters IIRC..he put it side by side with one from his home waters in Japan. the color was different. way, more red. brick red. and the flavor was less like the ocean, and more sweet.

i could only taste the diff because we went back to back. i'm no UNI expert..i can only eat it on occasion. the texture, or the lack of texture gets me after a few bites.
