That was fun.
A 6 cylinder Mustang would not stand a chance.

Fun to watch. Thank you! The blue Mini would have done better if it didn't have to carry the weight of the driver's massive balls.

I watched one of these mini/mustang races at our local track Manfield. A lot slower and twistier so it was anybody's race. Haha, the mustang was fastest every straight section and the mini every corner.
I remember the mustang had hopeless brakes and the mini would leave it to the very last second then pile on the brakes for the corner. |

Thanks, that was great viewing!
Although Mustangs were not particularly prevalent in the UK, my Father said that the same scene was played out there between the Minis and the E-Types back in the 60's. He used to take me to the Vintage Sports Car Club meetings at Silverstone and we'd watch them race. The other 'David and Goliath' battle was the pre-war single seaters. This was a handicap race, and the little three-wheeled Morgan JAP would be thrown into the corners and run rings around the big cars, but then be reeled in and passed on the straight. There's something really neat about two mismatched cars, capable of equal lap times, but achieved in totally different ways.

likes to left foot brake.

Mustangs were fast but they have to slow down too soon.
What a contrast light front wheel drive momentum Mini vs the heavy V8. |

terrible fun that must be. One of the older Top Gear episodes had a few minutes of vintage racing footage between the two types.
