"Americans have the most expensive urine on earth."

Overheard on a NPR program about the supplement/pill industry.

I take this, it costs me $20 a month, less than buying coffee out every morning before work.

It is called Testo Boost, it has the Saw Palmetto in it as well as a few other natural ingredients. I am not a placebo type, I was told to try this and I did for a month with much skepticism. After about 2 weeks I started noticing I was losing weight and no dieting. I also noticed more energy.

I really thought this was going to be some BS, at 51 I was amazed it actually worked.

I'd rather shave my head.

I'll stay with Saw Palmetto.

If you think health food industry and herbal medicine associations spend billions to get their way with the FDA and Congress, then you need to change your prescription medication.

You have the roles reversed there, they don't call it Big Pharma for nothing.

Large pharmaceutical firms are some of the most profitable companies in the world, so what do they spend all their money on, besides advertising and hefty salaries for rich kid CEOs? Sure, some profits are reinvested to fund research and clinical trials, but hundreds of millions of dollars are also spent on political operations every year, and federal law requires that drug companies disclose this political spending to the public.

I don't think it's placebo, but for a few years now I've been taking glucosamine/chondroitin/msm and my knee pain is greatly reduced. Didn't help my back. If it's placebo it's worth it, had trouble walking before.

Fingers numb right hand for last few weeks, doc said it's carpal.... got any pills for that?

Your doctor is risking everything to help you.

Please do not reveal his/her name.

I know of no doctor recommending Saw Palmetto, Probiotics , etc............so called alternative medicines.

They could lose their practice for straying from the "standard of care" script Big Phara has written for them.

The most they are allowed to say should you ask them is "you can take it but it will do nothing for you".

Those idiots put my mother in the hospital because of the side affects of antibiotics. I gave her some Probiotics and they followed the script "you can take it but it will do nothing for you".

Luckily for me my mother was open to suggestion and tried the Probiotics I gave her. She takes them all the time now, in chewable form.

His "doctor" is likely a chiropractor. No worries, chiropractors are near the top with poppycock, or maybe acupuncturists, it is a toss up. Of course number one is the homeopathic silliness. Dilute something until not one molecule of the original product is left and somehow it is effective. Yea, right.

Nope, a MD whose practice is connected to a major hospital in the area, one that a fellow Pelican works for..

But I do have an acupuncturists, and he has done wonders for me..

Great that you found something you like.

Every single time I research a "processed product" someone recommends to me I walk away in disappointment.

Perhaps I am too nitpicky and critical, but I am really conservative when it comes to what I'll take or eat. I research the living heck out of things before I take the plunge, and weigh the risks to benefits.

I follow the rule, if it's not broke - don't fix it. And if it takes me longer to get where I want to be, then so be it.

This is what I found:

https://www.consumerhealthdigest.com/male-enhancement-reviews/testoboost.html
Quote:
Are There Any Side Effects Of Testoboost?

As mentioned in the CONS of the Testoboost, such product does not have any conclusive studies evidencing the details of the possible side effects that it may cause. Despite claims* of it being an all natural product, higher levels of testosterone are known to cause:

Abnormal growth on muscle and tissues

Baldness

Dermal reactions
I am not the type of person that will take one thing to counter another thing.

The KISS Method has served me well so far, best to keep things simple.

My doctor told me there isn't a magic pill.
Just take care of yourself naturally.

A couple of years ago I checked into a hotel room with a friend a couple of years older, we were on our way to pick up a car he purchased, I was giving him a ride to it.

We shared a hotel room, we were unpacking, he had about 6 bottles of prescriptions he was unpacking, all kinds of crap. Stuff for cholesterol, high blood pressure, hardening prostrate.

He looks over at me unpacking and I have no bottles. He asks if I am on any medication, none. He asks if I have health issues, none.

Point is, I do take care of myself, I keep my weight down, my pants waist size is within 1-2" of when I graduated high school. I work out, I do cardio and probably walk about 10 miles a day. My wife and I take the dog for a walk in the morning and evening, 2 miles each walk and I easily walk another 6 miles with my work. I just checked I walked 7 miles so far today. 2 more will happen again after dinner.

The ONLY reason I considered this is because another friends doctor told him to try it since his testo levels were a tad low. Since taking it, they were up over where the doc wanted to see everyone was happy.

The last 2 years I felt I was losing a step, not moving like I wanted, energy a little lower, gym workouts becoming a chore. And hell, who does not want a kick in the balls in a good way?

All the side effects Kach posted, I have seen none. No abnormal muscle growth, no hair loss and no skin problems. All is good, I just feel more energetic, more powerful and noticed I was getting leaner without having to do insane dieting and as mentioned sex drive increased.

*Your results may vary

When the results of a double blind study on this is released by an accredited institution, it will have the same status as Vitamin C, econasia, steroids, airborne, calcium + vit D, and on and on of unproven miracle cures and treatments.

But if you PayPal me $25 every month I will tell you what works....

We don't always know what supplements we need, but some people need certain supplements while others do not. I watched the movie Lorenzo's Oil the other month, as I had never seen it. An intelligent man worked out a cure for a disease simply by going over old research papers. However, this ''cure'' is only effective, as long as the proper chemicals get taken. Supplements are simply chemicals that your body either needs to synthesize or needs to ingest to complete chemical reactions in the cells. When the body can no longer synthesize these chemicals, or is unable to derive them from food sources, supplements can provide them. One of the crucial chemicals that is crucial to Lorenzo's oil comes from rapeseed. Imagine that.

Nature is the ultimate chemical refinery. Plants combine and process chemicals in ways that man struggles to recreate in a lab. You cannot, however, patent a plant or its byproducts unless you can synthesize it and make it somehow slightly different. Some would tell you that God gave us this world, and then go on to tell you that they do not believe in natural supplements. Even oil in the ground comes from plants. That's nature.

Bio Diversity. What the heck is that ? Aspirin. Where did that come from ? Medicine often tries to force the body to do things it does not want to do naturally. Supplements often just allow the body to do what it naturally would do anyway when properly nourished. As we get older, our bodies often stop creating or processing chemicals as effectively. Supplements often just supply us with chemicals we used to be able to create ourselves. In Lorenzo's case, he, and others like him were never able to create the chemicals his body needed to stave off paralysis. Yet these chemicals are a natural part of living organisms, and may be readily available to us in a naturally processed form. Vitamin C. Oranges. Duh. Or rather, Ah HA !

Where did the term scurvy scalawag come from anyway ? Everybody, every Body needs something. It may come from nuts. Or fish. Or blueberries.

And yet the effects of vitamin C on scurvy are well known. But you only need to take it if your body doesn't have enough. Supplements are like that. Not enough C, you are sick. Enough, and you are cured. Too much, and it adds nothing to make you more better.

My hair is still all present and accounted for, with only a touch of distinguishing grey here and there.

I should add that my urine stream is one of the only things not weak, and ailing on my body. I still appear very healthy, but am very close to being on the heart donor list (25% EF), low kidney function (40%), and still getting chemo treatments. I've been going through a rough patch, but can still put a campfire out while pissing.
