If you are 50ish or older.....
....and not taking this stuff, you're an idiot and deserve all the dribble down the inside of your pant leg that you get.

Thanks (I'm 52). So what are the additional benefits?
Does the "old fella" work better?

G'day!

I'm 63 and haven't had any plumbing problems - ever - but ordered some anyway - as a preemptive strike!
Thanks, Scott....

Me too.
I will keep the $36 bucks until there is a clinical study that shows it does something. I knew many people that sing the praises of Glucosamine. All it ever did for me was make my bank account go down. The science says is is not absorbed and it a total waste of money. One thing for sure, the placebo effect is real. It is your money.

No I don't take pills for my prostate. Had a turp operation done two years ago but prostate was enlarged but not cancer. The psa test they say is of questionable use but I get it done yearly anyway.
Diet apparently can be a factor in the frequency of prostate cancer. Too much meat can be a factor. I don't take pills for the prostate. I get a yearly prostate digital exam done. Age 71 so far so good. ![]() |

I think if you are waiting for science to come out with a definitive study on this and similar products, you are going to be waiting a long time.
Big pharma isn't going to profit from such products, so they are not going to pay for the expensive studies. In fact they may pay for studies that promise to disprove their alleged medical claims. http://aphioshwc.com/products/speroltm-ds-detail/historical-use-of-saw-palmetto.html Quote:
I trust these old school remedies and treatments over anything coming out of a modern lab. I take no prescription drugs at 57 years old and I plan to keep it this way unless I get really sick for some unforeseen reason. I've been keeping an eye on the drugs recommended to me a dozen years ago, and it seems they are all subjects of class action lawsuits now because of terrible side affects. EDIT: Hair loss, the bald spot on the top back of my head is the why and how I first discovered Saw Palmetto. This is totally subjective, but I have some supporting photo documentation in addition to my own observations. My bald spot which isn't very large has more or less been frozen in time for the past +five years. A buddy of mine also suffering from thin hair, rising hair line, thinning spot on the top back of the head is two to three times thinner than he was five years ago. I'm about the same. I know that no two people are alike but a see a reflection of what I would have been when I see him. Get real, it's war. Sammyg2, your article is not about Saw Palmetto's effectiveness, it's about truth in advertising standards not being met by one company in particular. Quote:

At 52, I can still arc the stream a couple of feet, so I don't need any help in that department.

Walk into ANY "health food" place and you will see thousands upon thousands of bottles of pills claiming to fix everything under the sun. There is zero real regulation and some pills have almost none of what they say they do, and others have way too much. Some can be DEADLY if taken with prescription meds.
Virtually all of it just makes expensive pee. Some products like the fiber pills or fiber supplements will indeed make you poop more. Can't argue with that. The pill manufacturers have little oversight, no inspections and make crazy claims. They make billions and they have a strong enough lobby to keep any sensible oversight from ever happening. I will stick to medical science.
