Paul, there are several aftermarket companies that make seats for Jeeps. Corbeau comes immediately to mind. That would allow you to use a side mount to lower the seat. Any aftermarket sport seat will also be shorter than the factory Jeep seat. Have you looked at a nicer Wrangler with the power seat? That would also give you a wider variety of adjustment, as I don’t recall the base model seats adjusting for height.

My favorites from experience remain Recaro L-series (my E21 had LXes in it) and Volvo 700-series seats. Both were all-day comfortable.

I think to some extent seat comfort is subjective, as everybody has their own body type. The only way you may really know is to sit in one of the seats before you buy it, and even then, for a few hours. Volvo seats are notorious for being comfortable, as Swedish orthopedic surgeons are involved in the design. Those tan seats looked like regular S60 seats, then there's sport seats, then there's R-Design seats. And from model to model they feel different, too. I've always liked the seats in the 2013 and prior few years C70s, but that's probably just me.

I'd say if you could get something ventilated, that's a big step forward. Maybe you could find some from a 2016-2018 XC90 T6 or T8 Inscription, but they're probably big bucks. Now Volvo offers massage seats, which are off the hook.

Very true, my back is a mess and I highly prefer a heavily bolstered sport seat. The flatter and softer, the more I hate them.

Okay here goes... Bought a new VW Passat. At the same time I had a Boxster S. At about 2000 miles drove the new Passat on the same 600 mile each way trip I had made in the Boxster 2 weeks before. In the Passat it started making my lower back and butt itself hurt so bad I almost didn't make it home. VW ended up buying the new Passat back af 2500 miles becaue I couldn't drive it longer than 5 to 10 minutes. Doctor told me those nerves were aggrivated and inflamed. While they were touchy I went and drove every 4 door sedan and SUV I could find new and used. The only thing I could drive without causing pain was the Volvos, BMW's if they had the sport seat option, and Porsches.

So...That's what I have to choose from for a vehicle.

Insteresting that while driving everything to see whom had pain free seats I test drove an Audi RS4 with aftermarket Recaro seats. Man, I was really hoping that didn't hurt. It was as bad as most everything else.

Thought I was weird until I watched an episode of Top Gear were Hugh Grant was the star in a resonably priced car. He talked about having to sell his Aston Martin and gett a Porsche because the VW Golf he had borrowed from his brother made his butt hurt so bad. He said they called it Golf Balls.

Yep, different strokes. Remember a Jay Leno's garage episode on his 350GT Mustang. Said he'd had the factory recaros replaced with standard seats.

Cindy loves our Mustang passenger seat...says it doesn't give her a backache like these did..

These FTW.

I've had/tried several different "sport" seats over the years, and the original `85 -`94 Porsche Sports Seats are still the best IMO. However, I am sure a pair of those in great shape is going to be priced in the stratosphere.
Also, it seems that any leather these days is nowhere near the quality and/or is coated with what seems to be a half-inch of plastic (you know, for "durability").

For something that's cheaper and more plentiful, you might look at a set of "comfort" seats from a BMW E60. The ones with adjustable side bolsters and air-bladders in the back.

Corbeau makes some seat mounts too that have some room.

If you want to get crazy call Griffen Motorworks in NorCal. They are the US recaro importer and Steven over there can telll you from memory what hardware is needed to put just about any recaro seat in any car.

For other seats check out Planted and Wedge seat brackets.
