Nitrometano; There was 911 (912?) on ebay a year or two ago with a mazda rotary engine in it. It didn't seem to be going anywhere with a price in the low to mid ,000's.

BTW -- Why is this thread still alive???

Woooo I would like to see that car. The rotary engines here in PR is not an issue. There are a lot, very lot of rotary engines in drag racing. The racing modifications can be made at home with ordinary tools. Also the parts and the complete engines are cheap. You can buy a complete running 13B turbo engine for les than $600. With a stock engine with a T70 turbo you can easily run into the 10 sec. in the 1/4 mile.

As written earlier, here is a picture of Keith's latest work. A very nice 928 with a 454

The car turns 1:55's at CMP on street tires

I would'nt hesitate for a second to put in a new tranny in my 911 if it were worth it, time wise and other wise.

There is a fellow in town that is putting a BMW 540 engine in a 911SC. It will be interesting to see how the car comes out. He is currently trying to figure out the transmission part of the transformation. The car looks like it is going to be more of a mid engine car than rear engine which is also causing him to make a lot of suspension changes.
I am enjoying watching how when he makes one change, he has to make other changes to compensate.

WOW WOW WOW, this discussions really separates those that have evolved from those that haven't. Anyone who would make someone else feel inferior or otherwise about anything is severely twisted. I love it when i see people having debates about the vw-porsche lineage or v8 conversions or whether a 914 is a real porsche or whatever the latest thing is to keep people down, It is obvious that those that are support of letting people do what they want are also the senoir members who we all know(and respect) are succesfull and handle themselves that way. I applaud the writer of this thread for having the guts to list his project here. So much so that I am going to include a picture of my V8 car. if anyone has seen it recently it was also parked with my 3.2 carrera, Yes I have both a bastard and a Real engine, and a large garage and the ability to work on my own cars. I am a succesful business man with a business and a wonderful family and support you whatever you drive, 912, 944, 930, vw or whatever. hope you enjoy it, the problem is that many of these guys have only ever seen a V8 hack conversion, well, i hope you don't see me. you will be surprised. Please remember what your mom told you, "if you have nothing nice to say don't say anything at all" hmmmmm. I'm sure even after this post there will be a long line of the less evolved that make comments, realize that as you do you give those snior members and the succesful people on here(not just the neveux riche) a immediate impression of yourself. And impressions last a lifetime my friends.

And for the stupid comments I know will follow either way, no the wheel isn't staying, and the plaid is to keep the courbeau's clean, it has full rsr, carpet, rs america panels. I don't wear high karate or have gold necklaces. ANYONE who would like info or help on their v8 or ANY other project is welcome to ask. And Just in case we forget.

"if you have nothing nice to say, don't say anything at all" most of us learned that in kindergarten.

LOL, it's SoCal's fault. Looking at that yellow car, I just had a thought... does PCA let you run the car at PCA DE's? What do they do when you show up for tech?

just curious

I'll throw a hitch on it and tow the red car, LOL. Man i should have read the whole post before i chimed in. I believe the consensus is, this post should be dead, but i think it is really amazing that a post that started with such strong opinions has lasted this long. I say good for it. Unless anyone wants to give me a real rs, i'm going to build a 72 rs clone with a 3.2, and take of the dme and put on PMO's hmmm, nahh that wouldn't be original. long live the V8 thread. LOL

I ran with Jersey Shore at Limerock Park and there was a 944 with a 350 V8 in it running, so I would say "yes", at least in some cases. I will say it was one great sounding 944!!!

Dave, I wonder how that would be received by the home region for DE's?
