I like ks911 post. I like his v8 car. I like to see it, feel it and experience driving it because it's "rare" too.
If the car still can handle the same, perform the same, and is faster, and low maintenant... assumming. Why not? I know it is not the same anymore but hey let him experience it and be appreciate that he is sharing the experience with us "for free" What wrong with doing what he likes to do to HIS car? Years down the road if my engine dead and I am not wealth. I will look for you ks911. I like the slow pitch but is moving fast :) Show some pics. I wonder how "people" would feel if Porsche come out a v8 911 in the future. |

More fun than my 930s
Here's MY V8. My 930s were nice, once they got going, The 911s were OK too. This 355 however is fun from the moment you fire it up till the moment you pull back into the garage. Best street car I have ever had. Wished I still lived in Indy about now, I'd love to check out that ride!
Why did you choose the MB engine? |
I am using my own clutch set up, a Centerforce 11in clutch, billet flywheel and hydralic throwout bearing. I did think of using a stroked 351W Ford engine but the oil pump location prevented that.

Man...did some of ya'll not get any home trainin' from your parents? Rule number #1: If you ain't got somethin' nice to say...zip it.
I feel embarrassed to have to explain that one to ya'll. Bye now... Jim in GA |

Nicely done car. I hate seeing hack jobs and I have seen quite a few. Cool MB air box on the sbc.....nice touch.

hey, if you guys were curious, there's a renegade porsche forum out there somewhere.
i'm into the whole turbo subaru thing myself...lighter weight you know... www.porscharu.com/forum it's not just for the porscharu set, but really anyone doing aircooled to watercooled, with 4 cylinders. it's really new, and there's next to zero folks...I'll get some content up soon. I just started it up so we have a place to hide from the purists. sjd |
I'm gonna let the dogs out. After seeing Dad Roberts V8 in the NYD run pics, I thought I'd put a 4.5 Caddy sidewinder in a 914.

Last time i checked, the best handleing cars on the planet are using V8's...uhhh Lemans...Formula 1......yeah you know THREE lateral G's kinda sucks...I love how closed minded some people are.
Sorry, not a very nice reply since i have under 20 posts SmileWavy SmileWavy SmileWavy |
And the connection between an F1 V8 and a Chevy SBV8 are...???
Oh yeah!, they are both V8 engines with a 90 degree bank angle. Aside from that -- there's nothing in common between the two engines. Are you trying to make a meaningful contribution to the conversation with a comparison like that???? |
I am sure the V-8 gives lots of grins to the driver and I guess thats what its all about.
You should see the rabbid fights on rhe RX-7 boards with all the V-8 swappers years ago. I guess I just do not understand it. What draws me to the Porsche 911 is the total package the unique flat 6, the sound it makes the way it handles. Same goes for the RX-7 the pistonless engine the sound it makes how unique it is. Not my cup of tea but I totally understand it. Like I have room to talk with my hotrod 3.6. ;) |
Okay.
I just saw this topic show up in the forum. I went through 9 pages of it before I realized I'd be reading it for the next two weeks. I just wanna know one thing. How did Wayne's new BMW book make it into posts from 2001? |
