My 02' ls1 made 440 to the wheels with a G5X2 cam, ZO6 heads (unported), electric water/power steering. With a radical port job (only $1800) 490 hp at the wheels (550 at the crank) is what i was quoted by Danzio performance. Not to bad on pump gas with no power adders and 20 miles to the gallon. Best part...it can handle an ADDITIONAL 200 shot of No2http://www.pelicanparts.com/support/smileys/wat.gif

We just bought a boxster S to go with our 88 911 cab. It got me thinking about what a Boxster wtih a LS1 in it would be like...

Anyone heard of such a conversion? :D

How are you guys doing in regards to the gear box with these 911 SBC conversions?
Also, any cooling issues?

I've seen one car that had run a few different high end SBC motors. There were numerous issues to be resolved in regards to cooling and AC.
In addition the car kept having gear box issues such as cracking gears etc. I have some concern of this with my turbo car however I think the gears are much thicker in a 928 box than a 911.

It's a big project and my hats off to you guys that have nice streetable cars. It's a huge commitment to take on and I know it was a lot of time and effort.

Any pictures?

It's been 2-1/2 years since the last reply! It's time to revive this puppy!

Well...since you asked. I'm currently working on swapping an LS3 in my 1990 C4. I'm ordering my kit from Renegade Hybrids. By-the-way, for all you purist...NO, the engine wasn't blown or otherwise inoperable. I just decided to go with the LS3 because I like the affordable power and reliability that it offers over the F6.

I'll keep you posted in another topic as I begin the transformation.
