What did I say?

So "John Lane" calls me at work. It is a recording about my extended warranty on my car. I pushed 1 to speak to a specialist. (sales person).

They wanted to know what year, make and model I drove.

I can't figure out what I said? They hung up as soon as I told them that I drive a 1980 Porsche 911SC.

Hmmm.

Larry

I usually pick an unusual make, model and year. Last one was 1948 Chevy Fleetline that needed some engine work.

Don't feel too bad, they always hang up on me when I tell them I have a 1986 El Camino with only 356,000 miles on it. Hey, they called me!

Watch out - dependign on who is getting your info and how sharing they want to be, you may get other phone calls.

I got one this weekend - "So and so from Classic Cars, we have a buyer for your 1965 356, call us to make arrangements"

Which is funny, 'cause my 356 hasn't been on the road/registered in 10+ years. Obviously not a broker that one of the several people who have come by my house asking about it sent - they've all be quoted prices north of one million dollars... and one has been offered an introduction to other German hardware should they trespass again.... so where are they getting the data from?

Warranty whores calling me taught me to not answer if I don't recognize the number.
If it's important, the caller will leave a message...otherwise, tough titty.
.
My Fiat Abarth has a AAA 7 yr. 100,000 mile warranty...I guess they have no way of knowing that.
