good wishes and prayers needed

Dad had a stroke Monday. He survived surgery and is showing some positive signs, but he hasn't woken up.

He's the best man I have ever known. He's a kind man who has never been capable of telling a lie and his work ethic has always been the best.
He has spent his life doing for others and doing without himself.

I've worked to live up to his example and am ashamed to say I have failed miserably in that effort, but he's proud of his 4 boys regardless.

Good wishes and or prayers would be much appreciated, not necessary to reply if you don't feel the need but he needs the positive thoughts.
Thanks.

Peace for you and strength for your Dad. That was a beautiful description. I am envious of you and your Dad. You both have been blessed with each other.

Sammy, that is how I would describe my dad and myself.

I will pray now for him and for you. Have faith, and believe in Him. Expect your dad to recover and be with you for many years to come. Praise God.

Prayers sent Sammy. Maybe you should read him some of your warm, sensitive, supportive posts from PPOT, you know, to cheer him up.

Can't not reply after reading that!
I'm childless, but if ever I had a son, I'd like for him to speak of me in this way.
I hope your father recovers, Sammy, so that he can hear you express this to him.

Sorry to hear - my own dad went through this last fall and is still recovering (it's a process that doesn't end). Physical therapy, occupational therapy, speech therapy...

The key to a successful recovery is that he needs to keep mentally tough and want to stick with the therapy when he comes to. It needs to start ASAP and he needs to push it. Have him hit it HARD - as hard as he can and as often as he can. If he does that he'll likely be fine. It might be the most important thing he's ever done and it won't always yield immediate or tangible results (discouragement or temporary "steps backward" need to be overcome with persistence.

All the best.

It's a shame when bad things happen to good people, I will be thinking about and praying for your Father in hopes of a recovery, and your family for strength.
