Vintage Racing Slides

I picked up some slides this last week and have just started scanning them. There seems to be some great stuff in the lot. These images are from 1981 as stamped on the slides. There are some from the early 70s as well.

It’s pretty low tech, an old Cannon scanner (Canoscan 4400). It has an attachment for slides. I scanned them at 600dpi and its about 10min per 4 slides. So not exactly efficient but the results are pretty good.

I thought I should watermark them, seems to be a common practice.

I'm intrigued as to what you meant when you said, "I picked up some slides this last week..." I'm assuming you don't mean you picked them up at PhotoMat.

I've posted these before, but my Dad took these pictures at Indy circa 1976. He had a pit pass that day and was allowed to wander anywhere he wanted to go...

I picked up a box of 100 or so at an estate sale here in Seattle.

There a few from that race you mention though maybe from the year before? Ill have to check again but i think they are stamped 1981. I’ll put up a couple more when I get to my office.

This is precisely why I wanted to watermark them. More annoying than anything but also outlines what a sham most social media. What other pics on this guys feed are borrowed/stolen?

I have a bunch of slides for the 1960's and 1970's a patient gave me. All on west coast tracks. I have at least a few hundred I need to scan, here is one with a Pelican's father rolling down the corkscrew. Look on the right side, you can see a little guard rail that separated the track from a service road, people could stand almost right beside the track, back in the day.

If you don't ever want to see it on line don't post it in the first place.

Vetta Ventura at 1966 Sunburn at Green Valley Raceway. Tom Johnson driving (Delmo Johnson's older brother). I pit crewed that day. Car is a 5000 Series. Yes trees were that close to the racing surface.
