Who did Matt Lauer grope?

OK, let's hear the theories!

upsscott 11-29-2017 04:30 AM

Please don't let it be AL Roker.

widgeon13 11-29-2017 04:32 AM

I was thinking he might go either way.

Maybe Caitlyn Jenner!

berettafan 11-29-2017 04:48 AM

you know I get the impression that Al Roker is the kind of guy who'd be like 'hey man, I'm not into that but good luck to you' and just move on.

red-beard 11-29-2017 04:57 AM

I started a thread on this over in PARF...

When do we start seeing men accusing women of inappropriate conduct? Or, would we never complain?

Borders Reivers 11-29-2017 05:12 AM

Classic double standard

berettafan 11-29-2017 05:12 AM

maybe soon. the days of power stemming from physical strength and manliness (slay the tiger and bring home the meat) are ending and it's entirely possible for men to be on the receiving end of abuse. the skinny jeans douche beard types are coming into power and things might change!

widgeon13 11-29-2017 05:28 AM

My wife just calmly suggested that someone might come forward and accuse me following my 35 year career of philandering in the paper industry. Ha ha :D

Believe me, I was an altar boy to the best of my recollection.

One of the young men that frequent the cigar lounge I go to is one of the least aggressive, and least macho guys I have ever met. One day I mentioned to him about what a nice guy he comes off as and he tells me this is one of the reasons the car dealership gave him a shot at selling cars, his non-threatening persona.

We had quite the conversation about this trend, and I am convinced the "slay the tiger and bring home the meat" era is over in many circles, but not everyone is ready for it.

Macho is fighting back and making it's last stand in some very high profile areas, but it's a last gasp I suspect.

red-beard 11-29-2017 05:39 AM

This has been an on-going discussion with my wife.

A few points:

1. Sexual Harassment is not just men of women - We had a woman -> man case at GE.
2. Sometimes the "power role" is not obvious. A woman can sleep with a married guy and now have "leverage" over him. (I'll tell your wife).
3. Many companies are ultra-anti-sexual harassment. Accusation is believed 100% with no evidence. You cannot get legal counsel.
4. You cannot confront the accused. Many times, the accuser is kept anonymous, supposedly to prevent retaliation.
5. He said/she said - without direct evidence (e-mails, photos, video), there most of the time is he said/she said.
6. The standard is not objective, but simply, "X feels offended".

voron 11-29-2017 05:48 AM

Libs are cleaning house. we need to get rid of that creep Moore.

widgeon13 11-29-2017 06:03 AM

with the alphabet soup of LBGT..., the line of demarcation is getting lighter. I seriously think we will see a surge in female on male abuse. You know the snowflakes can be offended easily.

I just went to "Gabes" last night for some vacation clothes for our upcoming trip to Dominican Republic. I get there, and see nothing but a bunch of bearded wonders scouring the clearance racks with their backpacks in tow. I needed some nice khaki long pants, and had to try on 6 pairs before I found a nice pair that didn't hug my legs like skinny jeans do....Arghhh.

You may be correct so long as we abide by the rule of law which is also emitting a death rattle with every breath.

ckelly78z 11-29-2017 06:43 AM

All is not lost on the bearded skinny jean wearing douchebags. A guy texted me yesterday morning asking about an 8 HP chipper/shredder that I had on Craigslist, and I was impressed that he actually followed through, showed up, and bought it. He was mid/late 20s, had played college football, lived on a farm, was buying the chipper to help clear his deer hunting feed lot, had a really strong work ethic (like mine), and a general contempt (like mine) of the way his generation was headed.

URY914 11-29-2017 06:43 AM

I could NEVER run for public office. :(

RKDinOKC 11-29-2017 07:04 AM

Got disciplined, week home without pay, and had to go to counciling (was almost fired) because in discussing a medical procedure with our HR person that handles our medical information I said I had to sign a document to receive a skin graft because it was made from foreskin. HR said I said they stuffed dead baby penises in my wound. And that it was sexual harassment?

I now have the attitude of F them all the sob bustards/bustardettes.

sc_rufctr 11-29-2017 07:25 AM

In 35+ years of work I've never had an issue.

What I have seen several times is HR departments distort something beyond belief!

I'm also convinced that they do things to justify their existence.
A HR department is an expensive thing & I've seen a lot of their services off shored recently.

Imagine calling an Indian help desk to make an inquiry about your pay! That's becoming the norm.

craigster59 11-29-2017 07:43 AM

Supposedly he sexually assaulted someone at the 2014 Winter Olympics in Sochi.

LakeCleElum 11-29-2017 08:16 AM

My buddy at work got put thru the ringer 15 yrs ago. I was a witness. 4 of us are in the break room. One newspaper to share, a female reading it. My buddy is standing behind her her reading over her shoulder as she sits at the table.

Weeks later, she is offended. Said he was looking at her tits........It was all a crock to pass him over for a promotion.

We relish in inappropriate conduct when it comes to females.

True story. My niece is a high degree black belt in judo. Her husband lives in fear. It’s really sad.

upsscott 11-29-2017 09:01 AM

I sexually harass my wife on a daily basis. Keeps me away from the homely women at ups.

ted 11-29-2017 09:50 AM

wow amazed Matt gone instantly.
whats next for him? politics.

Borders Reivers 11-29-2017 10:03 AM

Considering the treatment afforded women in sexual harassment cases, I say it's time men turn the tables and start making accusations about women in the workplace, especially since women are taking so many high-level, high-paying positions.

steveo12345 11-29-2017 10:21 AM

My wife is going through this now. I posted about here:
http://forums.pelicanparts.com/off-topic-discussions/978389-what-would-you-do.html
After ignoring her reports HR is finally investigating it. If they don't do anything we'll be hiring an attorney.

vash 11-29-2017 10:26 AM

at work we should be acting like professionals. that's independent of our gender.

no groping in either direction. if Lauer acted inappropriately..good riddance. i wouldnt want a superior groping my junk.

ted 11-29-2017 11:37 AM

Is that anything like don't shyte where you eat?

Borders Reivers 11-29-2017 02:24 PM

Don't dip your pen in the company ink.

bob deluke 11-29-2017 02:27 PM

My parents tought me respect women. I have two sisters whom I dearly love. One older, one younger. I always looked out for my younger sister, especially when she was in H.S. going out on dates. I used to tease her about guys trying to get past second base with her, and she said it never happened. When she said "NO", it meant NO. Don't know whats going on with the Matt Lauers of the world, must be money and fame gives them special dispensation to feel like they can do whatever they want around women with no consequences. I guess being a gentleman today is becoming somewhat passe.

island911 11-29-2017 02:29 PM

Who did Matt Lauer grope?

Maybe he was caught talking about groping someone. No?

Read: I expect that there's a lot more there than groping.

ted 11-29-2017 02:40 PM

his desk had a button where he could lock his office door.
for what like a panic room?
