Bouillabaisse, cost $$$$ to make and I really don't care for seafood soups except clam chowder and ciopinno.

Rattlesnake. There's a reason chicken flesh is sold in stores, while reptile meat is not. Also if pecan pie is going to kill me, you're allowed to say "he had it coming" at my funeral.

I used to avoid eating pecan pie as long as there was a good apple pie to be had. One year at Thanksgiving, the apple pie didn't get baked so pecan it was. Now I enjoy both, if I can get away with it.
Don't bother me with pumpkin pie though, I rank that right up there with eating squash and brussel sprouts.

Salmon. Had it for years, made it once with some different spices and it tasted terrible. Haven't had it since.

Did the Salmon thing with tunafish salad. Thought a change up in spices would be good....NOT! Dog liked it though.

Paid a guide along with coworkers to take us out to get a king in Anchorage. Kenai River.
We all got one. Money spent well. Carved it up into filets, followed all the native freezing recommendations. After two rounds of it, delicious as it was, it was just too rich. Pitched the rest.

Use acids like lemon juice or soy sos, and bitterants like dill or parsley, and of course S&P, to cut the thick heavy block mass of fatty fish into smaller palatable bites.
(but I've never had the pleasure of eating too much fresh salmon.) I did receive four large turkeys one fall and had to get creative toward the end. Still tasty. Even kept the bones frozen for many more gallons of soup. Last edited by john70t; 12-01-2017 at 03:14 PM.. |

Partly. We made Cajun food and to make the base sauces took all day and was crazy amounts of work. I still eat it with gusto, but at a restaurant.

Fish in general. OK with shell fish, and some smoked fish, but it has taken 40 years to recover. Still won't do a filet of mahi or tuna or whatever. Ugh.
When I was 5, I walked the mile to go fishing, caught over 100 nice blue gills, toted them all home, and had to clean them, help cook them, and eat them (family dinner). No fish since. |

I made Salmon for a girlfriend. I saved the left overs and reheated it the next day. I smelled it...like tuna fish. Took a bite and promptly threw-up.

Yes, eggplant. I have no idea why they call it food.

10 or 15 years ago I ate a bad tuna steak the night before a weeklong Florida trip. In that week, I probably ***** in every bathroom in South Florida at least once. I haven't had a tuna steak since.
For Thanksgiving, I made a bacon maple walnut pie. Think of it as pecan pie for those of you that don't like pecan pie. It wasn't that big a deal to make, but I will never make one again. It sounds better than it tastes. I will happily eat vash's share of hollandaise sauce. I like mine on a thick, rare plus steak, with a heaping pile of asparagus and crabmeat on top.
