One of the things about scale modelling I wish could be better is when metallic paints have unrealistic sized flakes in the metallic. Even if purist accuracy called for metallic, I'd use a non-metallic rather than have this:

But that's just me. This F40 is amazing either way.

This is a metallic paint, Gurney Blue. The paint companies certainly have gotten better thru the years. It's just a matter of grinding the aluminum to a smaller particle size.

What I've read is that people use wire brushes, wetsanding from 600-1500 grit, then then metal polish. Felt wheels on a dremel can take a lot of the grunt work out for you as well, making it easier as well Maybe some of the other veteran modelers can guide us all in the right direction!
Yeah I used 2500 grit on the tub then polished. I was taking more of the smaller delicate pieces like sway bars etc. You certainly couldn't put them in a tumble.

Need tool and finishing advice on my 1/72 scale, resin, N-1M. Per the picture, some of the pieces are very small. My first concern is removing and deburring parts. I presume I will need a sharp knife, a small file and some sort of magnifying and part holding jig.

I also want to make sure the yellow airframe finish does not look like crap, so painting advice is also welcome. Lastly, what is a good adhesive to use for resin?

Thanks!

I picked up a rapido passenger coach this recently for $7. Painted it and applied decals today. Those straight gold lines were a b@#$!

Then I picked up a branchline kit for a pullman sleeper passenger car. "How involved could this be?" I mused...

Then I opened the box...

I've seen the laser cut wood 3D city maps and thought they were pretty cool.
The return of custom art products and the cottage industry is coming back...I hope.

But are you talking about lasar 3D printing with metal?

What about this business? :
1) customer sends you a ton of photo of anything.
2) you cloud-point the photos and turn it into all into a 3D model based in CAD.
3) you print objects and send them back to customer.
4) could be anything from missing door latch from a 1922 Subaru to miniature NYC downtown to desktop statue of Betty Boop to missing model parts.
5) whatever functional material the printers handle.
(these are probably out there already)

I'm waiting for vr glasses/glove and some really cool old machines like a B-17 full scale to virtually put together and travel inside.

Why not full scale 356 Speedsters?

Why not the Harper Speedster...there is a scene outside a diner where Newman (Harper) parks his Speedster and walks past a then new blue 356C coupe..

That would be an idea for you to recreate..and a bit of a challenge to get the layout right.you would have to watch that scene.

What a very cool thread, so fun to look thru again.

I'm wondering if Eagle Keeper is still with us? If so, how did you make out with Micheal? Is your place livable?

I've gotten my place in Ebro pretty well back to normal, fortunately we are west of the real damage area. I have some time free now if you could use a little help with recovery at your home.

PM me with contact info. We've got to make this new year a turn around time.

"Have tools will travel"

Cheers Richard

What paints do you all like for spray gun use? Application is for the small, resin model in post 133. Additionally, what is good to use for masking.

TIA.
