As predicted, legalization means more supply for/sold to kids:

...and difficulty keeping it out of states that do not allow their citizens to poison themselves. Legal recreational marijuana sales increase problems with black market/crime.

This is news fint...in all my life I've never heard of such a huge bust...WOW!!!

You know....if they'd make it illegal, like drinking under 21, then it would stop. Just like no underage drinking while in the Air Force....as far as you know :)

I think it is a pretty big bust...but, the point is that making it legal CA did not stop illegal activity or black marketing of it as promised by many It just makes it easier.

When was the last time you actually witnessed someone drinking underage on an AF base?

That wasn't your original claim....and I doubt many folks smoke weed at work either. I suspect I could visit many bars in Goldsboro and find more than a few drinking underage though....and you know it...but might not admit it :).

Never seen one in 40 years service...but maybe you have more exposure than I do.

Most underage Airmen likely live on base. If they are not drinking at home, they probably are not in a bar where they are more likely be caught.

I don't think so. The risk and punishment are too great. I bet you cannot find a single one. Do the bars in Goldsboro serve the underage?

It all depends. Ya know.
For different people there are different sets of rules...
Rules dependent on the local laws...
I suppose if a MP only looks briefly at a guy's shoulder, he really can't tell his age.

https://www.thebalance.com/military-drinking-age-3354195
"In the case of a DoD installation located in more than one State or in one State but within 50 miles of another State or Mexico or Canada, the minimum drinking age on that DoD installation shall be the lowest applicable age of the State in which the DoD installation is located or the State or jurisdiction of Mexico or Canada that is within 50 miles of such DoD installation.

The minimum drinking age on a DoD installation located outside the United States shall be 18 years of age.

I know the rules...and so do Security Forces. Laws are very strictly enforced.

And that's the point of this thread fint....you and all your Security Forces, and all the laws in the world won't deter 18-20 year olds in the AF or any other branch from illegally drinking. It is what it is man...human nature. Make all the laws you want....won't change a thing.

You'd lose that bet...for all your experience, you're either being "typical fint", or you really don't have a clue...

18-20 year olds in the military drink alcohol....even the Air Force :)

So you'd bet I couldn't find a single one fint? How much? Make the wager high enough to be worth my time....and we're on!

I am pretty sure it generally does...just like the prohibition on illegal drugs keeps most Airmen from using drugs. When they do, they eventually get caught and their lives are ruined.

Pretty sure not a single one. That said, it is pretty hard to prove your bet...because if so, they would end up in jail or kicked out of the service. If they are drinking underage, they would not identify themselves/their age.

You win...I'm now convinced that 18-20 year old guys in the military don't drink :)

fintstone 01-15-2018 06:45 PM

Good. Most folks take their oath seriously.

john70t 01-15-2018 06:47 PM

KC KC KC...you know that bulldog don't let go.

Hate to see folks insult the military.

I don't think obeying the law takes nonhumans...similarly, I don't see much difficulty respecting the oath they took. Didn't you when you served?

I must not be human as I did not drink underage in the service. I did not even consider doing so.
