Anyone own ski hill property
We are in the process of buying a cabin on a ski hill. It is ski in / ski out.
Anyone else done this? What are the pros / cons?

I did some repair work on a cabin in Suger Bowl in the Sierra Nevada. A real pain in the butt. All my tools had to be brought in by a snow cat. I had to call ahead to arrange for him to come back at the end of the day. He showed up before I was finished and took off with some of my tools. I had to trek through the snow with heavy tools and then track my tools down that were still in the snow cat. Needless to say I refused to ever work there again.

.
Pros include being being there to hike it pre season .. .. or being the only guy on the hill when they open early season. Cons are lugging your groceries from the garage (sorry, nothing I do turns these two photos upright) .. .. especially for the wife. We now live 20 minutes drive from the slopes, with an attached garage ;^) . |

We have a small place on a small plot in the mountains, not on a ski hill but on the edge of a 1000 yr old village near a ski hill
We originally wanted something a bit more remote but when you factor in access, maintenance and amenities living in a small village , skiing, neat the big outdoors, lakes, hospital, vets and shopping seemed like a much better proposition When we lived closer about 4.5 hrs away we used it once a month, now living a 2 hr flight or 2 day drive away flight away we use it 2 or 3 times a year Our neighbour's look after it for us and we don't rent it out so going back we feel at home as soon as we open the front door
