Dumb question #17

Do any of you get your Porsches rust proofed for winter driving or is the factory rust
proofing so good you feel it's not needed?

Seems a lot of us hang on to our rides for decades, so might we be leaning pretty hard on the original factory rust proofing? Even if we don't drive all winter on salty roads they may still rust. Or not?

I hate rust more than anything that can go wrong on my car.

Well, if your car is Blue but looks Grey, that's because it rusting I think. Probably too late to save it.

I just avoid driving my 911 in the salt season. My El Camino is my daily driver. In salt season I just keep it washed off as much as possible.

After 357,000 miles it still looks great.

My '08 does not seem to have rust. New was in New York. Went to Florida, then Tennessee. In Tennessee it stayed in the garage for the 3 years mostly, the owner put less than 4000miles on it. I have had it in Indiana 3 years and.......

I am sure there are rusty Porsches out there but I have never seen one. My Boxster never had any rust. Well made bodies. I don't get rust proofing done anymore likely coz I don't keep the car long enough.

Maybe salt is not a concern on newer cars? I am in Northern Germany and with recent snow the roads are covered in salt. This guy is not concerned.
