Yeah, I dunno. Looks like that thing has a lot of knocks an crannies that are not likely to get cleaned very well by the remaining minimum wage workers.

I see Flippy turning into Slingy, depositing salmonella with every flip.

Likely not the sort of place I frequent anyway, I'm not a big fan of fast food. I suspect that a decent burger place serving fresh hamburger that is cooked to order will not be incorporating robots any time soon.

I would think a conveyor burger grill would be a lot cheaper.
No flipping..does both sides at once.

There's a restaurant close to me that has an $18 burger and only 15 to 20 of them available daily; they sell out by 7PM, at least in my experience going in later. Worth every penny.

Yes. My first grade class took a field trip to the local one in Garland, TX around 1977. We got a full tour of everything before they opened (no breakfast back then) and then got to make our own burgers on the conveyor belt. Even then I thought the grill marks had to be spray-painted on with a stencil. But they are real.

One of my first jobs was bagging at Kroger.
(Also cleaned carpets, packaged electronics, mowed lawns, and delivered papers until I got my first real job at 16 in downtown McDonalds studentville where I could handle the entire back fry area during rush hour.)

Yesterday I walked into the local Kroger and was greeted by a new wall of self-scanners and a woman trying to explain how to use them. It's easy. You walk through and scan items as you go then self pay at register. You the rat are run through a maze before being ejected sans moola. This eliminates both the bagger and cashier job positions and creates quarterly profit for management and stockholders.

Every store seems to be doing it these days.
Even Meijer has installed a majority of self-checkout stations.
Aldi retains the cashier and has very cheap prices.

Kroger not only eliminates both jobs but sells the customer's (your) personal information. Get 'em from both sides. Your profile is sold to health insurance companies, online retailers for 'customized experiences', and anyone else buying such as the KGB. Maybe like Target they can sell some diapers and baby formula to my daughter before she knows she is pregnant.

I turned around and walked out.

Meijer is owned by Kroger, so it makes sense that they would share technology.

I just went "whoa" for a second there. It really is a conspiracy, I tells ya(wagging finger).

http://www.kgbanswers.com/does-the-kroger-company-own-meijers/21470277
"No. Michigan-based supermarket chain Meijer is a private, family-owned retailer run by the Meijer family. You're probably thinking of the food-and-drug chain, Fred Meyer, which Kroger acquired in 1999 in a $13 billion deal."

Yup, worked there for a whopping two months in high school. Frozen patty into one end of the conveyor, mediocre hamburger comes out the other end.

I grew up with a friend who was half Mexican, his full Mexican Dad was famous for is enchiladas and almost always brought a tray to any big get together. When people would ask him "how do you make them taste so good?" He would whisper to them "I don't wash my hands"

He was a bit of a comedian.

I was wondering how it got the raw hamburger on the spatula.

So how does it work? Before Flippy can get started, it needs a little human help. A co-worker puts raw patties on the grill.
