I don't like it when Solar Companies follow me around at Home Depot
Well, today seems to be a full page of complaint threads - even some compaining about me and my rudeness.
My new complaint: I don't like it when I go to Home Depot and someone starts following me to either take a survey or ask me if I'm concerned about my utility bill. My standard response is to pull out a piece of paper from my pocket and state that I am only concerned about what is on this list. Sometimes I will get a response like "You're not concerned about your utility bill?" and I then rudely state NO! I consider that personal information which I don't share. Let the barbs fly.... |

I just say I already have solar, which I do, and they move on. But yes, annoying.

I made the mistake of contacting a couple solar providers for a quote over a year ago. That put me on a list used by every global entity related to solar/energy. I have been busy blocking numbers since. And no, I never installed solar, prices are IMO excessive. I'm fine to hold out until they drop 50%+
Agree with the HD/Lowes sales folks. I just lie and say I already have solar. When they shift to asking if I need more panels I make a hasty retreat. |

Yeah, those guys drive nuts. i dont go to HD all that much, When I do they are like fly on siht. I jsut say no, and keep on walking without looking at them. They get it. My biggest btich is when they ask how much I am paying for my bills. I almost wanted to say, what I pay isn't any of your business

Well to keep the flow going when the person follows you just fart in his or her direction. LOL

Thread idea: Is it okay to pass wind when being followed by a solar guy in Home Depot?

Polite response. ''Not today thanks.''
Less polite. ''Is it true that Home Depot puts a 50% markup on all your installs ?'' |

One of the best things about working for a power company is that these people have no sales pitch after I say "I work for X"
That and all the free electricity I can use ![]()

Get off my lawn!

Yea, I get past the gauntlet of Girl Scouts cookies at one door and the Boy Scouts at the other door, only to be chased by some salesman.
This always comes to mind.

Must be more of a Cali thing. I frequent Lowes, Home Depot, and Menards, and have never seen a salesman or surveyor follow me or anyone around in their stores. Maybe it's coming soon.

^ha. I get it!
![]() I love the windows/door sales guys. Must be the local version of your solar guys. Obviously commissioned sales flunky. I either ignore them completely or just say no thanks as I walk by. I made the mistake of talking to one a few years ago, what I thought was a 15 min roofing quote turned into a power point preso. I felt played. |

Menard's associates are especially good at it but at least the stuff they sell is definitely bottom of the line. |

However, the sales person that follows you around is not a Home Depot employee, they work for their solar co and are usually planted at the front of the store where you can't avoid them. Not sure what HD gets out of this but I'm sure it's something. |

Solar don't work up here in Northern Michiganistan, so the companies dont waste their time and money trying to sell it. Snowblowers do though, and is a different thread altogether.
