It's small. It's fast. It's orange.
My newest addition to the collection, a 2007 VW GTI Fahrenheit, number 428/1200. I just picked it up yesterday. What a blast to drive!

2.0L turbo engine. 6-speed DSG transmission with paddle shifters. It's chipped and puts out 220 HP. European sport-tuned suspension. VW made 1200 in 2007, all the same color, Fahrenheit orange, a Porsche color. It's a tribute to the initial steps in 2007 to form a merger with Porsche. They sold about 500 in the US. I have #428. It would have been cool to get #451. In case you're wondering, it has 89,000 miles, is in top mechanical condition, and cost me $7500. It also has a new, awesome sound system. I think it's a pretty good deal for a car with a bit of rarity to it.

That's cool. Is interior tartan? Does it torque steer? I used to experience that with a Mazdaspeed I used to have.
Do they have fahreinheit GLIs? I thought I saw one in Monterey last week Sent from my Pixel 2 using Tapatalk |

It has very nice black leather seats. No torque steer. Yes, they made Fahrenheit GLIs too.

BTW.....I'm thinking this car will "appreciate" over time instead of the other way around - because of it's unique qualities. Just keep it pristine and all original, of course.

Yes, it was the 6th quickest car in its price class. Other reviews I read from 2007 mention how other cars like the Mazdaspeed are faster off the line. But the reviews said the extra power of those other cars compromised their handling. Think torque steer, as mentioned above. They said the GTI was better balanced, handled much better, and was more fun to drive. Not a bad tribute to Porsche.

It's funny, that weighs about as much as my 928, which was vilified when it was new for being so portly.
That is a great car. |

Because the context was comparing the 928 to earlier other Porsche models.

Kinda the same, but different - I bought a '16 Golf R a month and a half ago... LOVE IT.
Your car is WAY more bang for the $$$, considering the price delta between the two. And I dig the orange. I test drove a newer GTI, but decided I couldn't give up AWD for the 4-6 days a year that I really need it. It was an expensive decision for sure, but gotta say that the R is pretty fun to drive; enough so that I'm wondering if I'm going to be parking my Porsche more often during the summer months... ![]()
