Yup. The price vs value proposition for most "collector" cars is pretty nuts.

This was the Fiat I wanted when I was in high school. Instead I wound up with a 124 Spider, an '81 Turbo. Still got that car and I have too many so no X1/9 for me, but I wouldn't kick it out of bed.

We had a 124 wagon and a 128 sedan in the 70's. I think the 124 had rust on it new when my dad bought it. I remember the 128 got a flat tire on a run to Karlsruhe (Autobahn), the subframe broke in half trying to jack it up. Stay away from them. The staging area for Fiat Europe was about 2 km from where I lived in Lahr. Always toyed with the idea of a Dino, but too many headaches.

I had a 79 X1/9. Fantastic chassis in desperate search of an engine.... I believe 67 horsepower stock carbureted 1500cc.
A buddy and I (buddy was a mechanical engineering student) put a 13B rotary with a GM FWD transaxle into it. With headers and aftermarket fuel injection was probably a pretty solid 180-190 horsepower. Much more fun to drive after that!!! angela
