what is your camping cook set up?

Truck camping I cook on the open fire every chance I get using a lodge 18 or 20 (?) inch skillet. For breakfast too. My kids build the fire early morning - by the time I get up, it is ready to make eggs with the leftover meat scraps from the night before, pankaces, french toast etc.

Meat goes on the fire directly or a small coal weber that travels with me. Coffee is drip from either the camper propane stove or the dual fuel stove. These stoves also serve to boil pasta.

I love camping. My goal is to camp out for a year straight when I retire. Boondocking as much as possible.

I can still cook on the campfire and backpacking stove when needed. But after years of tent camping and backpacking I think I could do with a little comfort. Now that I have the R-Pod I can get away and relax and fish at some remote sites.

I bought the dual Ryobi inverter generator setup from Home Depot. I figure one will work great to power everything in the trailer except A/C which will be fine up in the Sierras. If I go somewhere warm I can always hook them up parallel to enjoy true comfort.

Camping means many different things depending on your destination and mode of transportation.

RV camping we use the RV propane stove, oven, and a portable propane Weber grill.

Car camping usually means Coleman 2 burner and Weber grill.

Backpacking means a small white gas stove I have owned for 40 years. It is not the lightest thing around but it works every time and will fry up fresh rainbow trout at 12000' in the Sierras just fine.

I used to cook over wood coals a lot back in the day but now everyone gets so worked up about gathering wood, open fires, permits, aaaargh!! I'm over it.

no idea you had a RPod. those are pretty slick..you towing it with the 4runner?

I use this all the time! Perfect for cooking everything from breakfast to steaks, and boiling water. Pretty cheap and uses butane canisters.

I resently scored this nice folding cooking table. Great for the two burner stove I use outside.
I only have nice stainless/copper pans at this point so don't want to cook on open fires and trash them. May get some cast iron when I grow up.

Yes, people tow them with 4Runners, Tacomas, Avalanches, etc. The dry weight is only 2,600 lbs.

It has good ground clearance and tows well on forestry roads but isn't meant to go crawling in Moab. Only had it out a few times so far. Missing the trout opener this weekend in the Eastern Sierra, I'll probably head towards Bridgeport/ Lee Vining in the next couple of weeks.

Cast iron dutch oven. I use it for everything it makes a great mountain man breakfast. When I cook bacon I wipe it down with a paper towel put them in a freezer bag and I can use them to start the next fire.
