None of us realized how cutting edge and ahead of its time the Aztec really was.

Cheers Richard

I think Toyota and Honda paid too much attention to the criticism of their conservative styling so they went to the other end of the spectrum. In my opinion Mazda is the only Japanese automaker that is putting out genuinely attractive cars right now.

I agree with you KNS that the Toyota suv's are pretty ugly. Similarly the Lexus suv line as well. Having said that I think the Toyota and Lexus will continue to sell well because of overall reliability. Some folks don't care what their suv's look like as long as they are reliable.

I wonder if we will ever see flowing curves , and nice lines ever again. Surely , even the younger generations can recognize beauty when they see it .
I don't get it? Everything looks the same, and none of it is attractive .

that celica supra is pretty cool. I remember lusting after those.

the video on the other hand....

GH85Carrera 04-30-2018 08:40 AM

I think the alien looks better than that ugly vehicle!

berettafan 04-30-2018 08:43 AM

I will agree the lexus grill (grille if you want to feel fancy) is just awful and would keep me from owning any model with that design.

flipper35 04-30-2018 08:43 AM

Then there is the new Avalon.

I'm surprised that would pass the federal 5mph bumper standard.

A windfall for the manufacturer parts division, but a bane on insurance and the consumer.

I know toyota can do it, maybe they just got bored producing functional, great looking trucks.

Or maybe the skilled designers retired years ago and the new guys are still figuring things out.

I remember my reaction to the first Aztech I saw.

I don't remember my age, I didn't have a driver's license I know that much.

"Wow, what is that, its different, I like it".

It was strange to later join this forum as a teenager and find people saying it was hideous.
