Generally, margarine is better for you than butter, but I think butter tastes better. There was a thing floating around the internet a while back making all kinds of outrageous (and false) claims about margarine, but in reality it's better than eating butter.

Yeah, I'm a butter guy too. Usually have it in stick and tub form.

I agree^^^it's what we use to cook with. A little healthier than butter, if you buy the right one.

A coworker told me a while back that margarine is 1 molecule away from becoming plastic. My reply? I haven't eaten a lot of plastic, but margarine is very tasty.......

Primarily butter. The recipe I have for Mexican street corn is very good.Instead of
butter a light coating of mayo then sprinkle chili powder, then cotija cheese and
cilantro.

You can also add a little salt and pepper to your liking on that. The mayo and
chili powder is a nice combo. Pretty tasty.

Butter comes from cows, margarine comes from a laboratory.

There are some things in life that margarine works better in than butter. Two of those are my grandmothers cookies and pie crust. You can NOT make it with butter and have it taste like how she made it. So for that reason, I use margarine. It's not often I use it but it's required in those instances.

Similar to lard. Sure there are butter snobs out there that won't use anything other than butter but try making refried beans using butter and tell me how that works out for you.

I don't remember the last time I had margarine. It can be better for you if you get the stuff without hydrogenated oils and depending on the veggie oil they use. I don't think the difference matters to most people. Those that butter their chocolate chip cookies are probably better off with the good oleo.

The only thing I put salt on is corn on the cob, with real butter. When I was kid, my grandpa grew corn in his home garden (just like in the song, Oklahoma, it was higher than an elephants eye). He would make us go pick out an ear, shuck it and throw the shucks in his compost. Then walk inside and hand it to grandma, and she would drop it in boiling water. You could hear the corn scream. It is impossible to get it any fresher.

I don't often use margarine. Mostly at a restaurant that serves a dinner roll and all they have is the little package of margarine and no butter.

i had corn from a field.

we set up a turkey burner and a pot of (salted) water IN the rows of corn. it was crazy how good it was. we ate it straight up.

i took a bite raw and it was like pure sugar..but it makes my throat itch if i eat it like that.

The only time I buy it is because I’m making wings.

On the corn topic, I make grilled corn that’s finished with chili powder lime juice and butter and sprinkled with cojita. It’s a summer go to.

Margarine

Quote:
(12 ingredients) Vegetable oils 65% (containing 52% canola & sunflower oil), water, salt, emulsifiers (soy lecithin, 471), preservative 202, food acid (lactic), milk solids, maltodextrin, natural colour (beta-carotene), vitamins A & D, flavour.
Butter

Quote:
butterfat, water and milk proteins

I try to avoid processed foods when I can, all things in moderation is the key.

We ingest zero margarine in our home. I always thought it was something my parents and grandparents used. A pack of 4 sticks of butter lasts a very long time in our house unless my wife is baking something. Then it gets used up.

Butter and even fake virgin olive oil 'burns' easy at unattended medium stove temperatures.

Burning = Changing 'good' fats to 'bad'.
(when singeing, just burn a very small amount for flavor please)

The teflon pan itself is probably more bad than the butter.
