Rock&Roll Hall of Fame 2018

• Depeche Mode
• Dire Straits
• Eurythmics
• J. Geils Band
• Judas Priest
• LL Cool J
• MC5
• The Meters
• Moody Blues
• Radiohead
• Rage Against the Machine
• Rufus featuring Chaka Khan
• Nina Simone
• Sister Rosetta Tharpe
• Link Wray
• The Zombies

What a list???? LL Cool J????
The person who deserves it the most of all is Sister Rosetta Tharpe.
Check her out she's awesome. Religious but she kicks butt and many have copied her.
The Zombies, Moody Blues, and Dire Straits get my vote as well.
Like Rage as well!

I cannot believe Yes still has not made it. If any one band ever did more to define their chosen genre, I'm not aware of them. Not many bands have, or had, anyone who equals their talent at any one position, and as far as I'm concerned, no one equaled or equals their talent at each and every position. Their music may not be to everyone's taste, but their talent and influence is undeniable. And they are not even nominated this year. Not a single nominee this year even comes close to what they accomplished.

Does the RRHOF even matter?

The last thing I care about an artist is status with the RRHOF.

I cant believe Journey didn't make it in until last year. They were way bigger than most of the other bands that were inducted in the previous years combined!

I have been through the RRHOF twice. The first time I was unimpressed. The top floor was a Beatles / Lennon tribute at the time and left me leaving quite depressed.

The second time was far better but let's face it, this is a business / cash grab. I don't need to go back a 3rd time.

Also I think you can't be inducted until 25 years after your first hit or after you die, whatever comes first.

They were inducted this year. Saw them "In the round" in Buffalo in '80. Amazing.

I am guessing sometime around 1985 with Aerosmith and Run DMC doing Walk This Way.

RRHOF isn't about music, it's about influence in the kind music culture that "rock and roll" was the beginning of.

I think truly influential rap or hip hop being included is great, but there's still gonna be some WTFs every year.

Of course if you dont include it you're a racist but if you do include it you are appropriating.

Again no Motörhead. What a joke of a hall of fame. I took my wife there this summer and got to see John Lennon' Rickenbacker, Ringo's drums and Johnny Ramone's Mosrite and a few other cool things.....a few blues legends guitars....That's about all this joke of a hall of fame is good for every 10 years or so I go to seee what's new.

Bon Jovi before Motörhead? Disgraceful

No. It was and will forever be Jann Wenner's BS. Rolling Stone is broke and can't find a buyer. No wonder.

I saw my very first concert 'in the round' at Melody Fair! It was Alice Copper in either '79-'80 I think!

Awesome! I missed that - did Chris Squire live long enough to see it, or was it after he died?

Yes was always one of the bands I would not miss when they came to town. I bet I saw them close to a dozen times in all. I was never a fan of their oddball lineup changes nor the music they produced when they went full-on pop; their earlier and then later "progressive" work, with their "classic" lineup, was always their best.

Glad to hear they finally made it in.

Hmm when you talk about influencing a genre I get LL and Depeche Mode. But that's not rock so why list them?

Don't know much Yes but owner of a lonely heart is one of the truly great songs of all time. Love love love it!

Zony Mash has been in rotation on my ipod for as long as I can remember. I do like The Meters

If you want my humble opinion, if it's really all about influence, then the MC5 and Link Wray should by all means be inducted.

I'm sure at least one of those two WON'T make the cut this go round, or ever.

(And why aren't the Zombies already in? HOF is kind of a joke.)

(Good news, Jeremy, Sister Sweetly will be 25 next year! Fingers crossed!)

(I know, first I call the HOF of fame a joke, then I wish BHTM good luck. I'm so transparent.)

The moody blues were awesome. Even if the voices showed their age, they proved they belonged there.
The cars were good, but it felt a bit awkward.
Bon Jovi appeared too small for the HOF as well, evidently Mark Knoffler believes he is too big for it
David Knopfler had a good excuse for the no-show, he evidently couldn't afford the trip ...

Quote:
The younger Knopfler expressed his extreme annoyance at the Rock Hall on his Facebook page, saying the organization “reneged” on its promise to provide him with all of the required travel costs to get to Cleveland. “I can well understand that with only $5 million a year in sponsorships and 100k a table and no fees for the artist,” he mused, “that paying my taxi to the airport must have given them heart murmurs like Squeers hearing Oliver Twist asking for more and frightened them into refusal otherwise one might get the wrong idea entirely about what they’re all about.”
I liked the part where they induct the single hits of artists who may not have had enough career to make the HOF, especially whiter shade of pale.
The tribute to Tom Petty was cool, I heard there was also a tribute to Glenn Campbell but Ann Wilson ate it.

All in all IMO this year's HOF earned a .... meh. It would have ranked a "big stinker" if it were not for the moody blues saving it.
That's what happens where you let Forest Gump produce the show for HBO.
