can I still just use polyurethane ?
and no clearcoat?
I'm not a bodyman, I have painted a few cars but way back then then it was all laquer or polyurethane, not basecoat clearcoat. my car only has clear coat on one side, its an early 86 Porsche non turbo in guards red. I think the car originally had no clear coat but was touched up in some movie set production.. the one side was clearcoated and they left a couple dents from mounting he camera equipment. I have just a few dents and scuffs, not major rust areas. I previous ordered a mixed can and then sourced the clear coat locally , I was wondering if I can still get polyurethane premixed, then I dont have to muck with clear coating and spray equipment. I have a small HVLP spray gun but it's really just spot repairs.. I assume if I can get the old polyurethane, it could still be clear coated later on.. I'm in Canada if that makes a difference. thanks |

don't know about Canada but you can still get urethane SS in the states.
your car was urethane SS from the factory. you can clear over SS but why would you? if your going to clear over the red color just do it in base clear. |
