Primer on paint chip area won't stick

I have an ~1/8"x3/8" chip that has some bare metal, primer and paint in it.
I did a light sanding with 600 wet.

I tried using rattle can Krylon (I think) Zink Primer but I am able to wipe primer off after more than 24 hours. I would still prefer to spray on the primer and paint.

I was in compliance with the temp/humidity spec'd on the directions.

I tried to find some Wurth Rustop Primer suggested in PP forums but couldn't find it... maybe they changed the name?

What am I doing wrong?
If need be, where can I get a small amount of a more suitable primer?

On a related note, can i get a small spray can of GP White?

any help will be greatly appreciated! Thanks.

i don't use spray cans ! but i think a 600 cut is to fine for even spray can primers . most jobbers (auto paint stores) will put there colors in a spray can for you .

There hasn't been any silicon spray here has there? Nothing will stick to silicon.

The 600 came from the rather lengthy procedure I found on PP forum. Can I resand with something more suitable, say 400?
So maybe your saying silicon in what may be the original/current primer still left in the chip zone as well as my GP white on the chip edges, guess I'll never know that for sure.
Should I take all the chip area to bare metal primer and hope the new paint blends/sticks well with the surrounding GP White?

Didn't think fixing a paint chip would be so difficult, wonder what a shop would charge?
Thanks.

There won't be silicon in the paint unless it somehow got there by accident. Not likely in a spray can. I was talking about silicon spray somehow getting on the spot you are sanding.

P21s and 70% Iso Alc... should have been sily free and clean enough to operate on.
As usual... I have more to learn than years to live.
If I can't fix a frigin paint chip wadda my chances of rebuildin the engine when it comes time

thanks.

Agree it should be clean. Though I had the same problem once and nothing, except removing the metal by sanding, finally let the paint stick. BUt I'm guessing you face some other issue. Good luck.

I couldn't get the paint to stick to a bare spot with primer all around it. So I sanded thoroughly, took all the primer off and some metal, and it worked. There are silicon removers around but I'm not sure they work well. A lot of people have had this issue before. But unless you or a previous owner sprayed silicon on the spot you are likely facing some other issue.
