paint code 1970

Does anyone know where the paint code is found on the body for a 1970 911 european specs? I can find the serial number but not the paint code.

Thanks

You should find a plate on the driver side door post. Looks like this:

The number stamped there is the color code. You can look it up here: Porsche 911 Farbdatenbank

Harry,

Thanks! the reason that I was having difficulty is that the chassis number and engine number translate to a 911 E Coupe Karmann with the engine in the right range, but I never could find a number that matched the 1970 color numbers. The color code stamped on the door post plate is 23-23-H, which is a 1971 color - blood orange. This clears up another mystery as I thought it was signal orange, but the pictures never looked like mine. I guess as mine is number 528 of 667, it could have been built late in 1970 and actually used the 1971 paint code.

Do you know if I can write / email the factory with the serial number to get all the build information like gearsets or options?

Thanks.

Rick

The best you can hope for is to order a Certificate of Authenticity (Certificate of Authenticity - Owner Services - Porsche Service - Dr. Ing. h.c. F. Porsche AG). If you search here, it is of variable accuracy.
