Paint code question with pics and code

I have a '78 911sc I am restoring and all along I was assuming it was guards red and I just pulled the code and find it's peru red. I am confused because from my research that wasn't offered as a color in 78. It stopped in 77. Anyone have any insight?

Hi,nice car to restore.im planning to restore a 3 liter sc later on down the road. for your paint code, was your car built in the fall of 77. some cars might have had that color code carried over into 78 before it completely discontinued. your car could have gaurds red & the old paint code.for the most part paint codes are usually correct to the color on the car. but there are times when they're wrong . don't fuss,go with the red you like better. Cheers

That makes sense. I have been blasting it down. It's definitely the Peru red. Much deeper/darker. It was just a few specs of red looking through in the beginning so I assumed. Pretty cool it's something different. Thanks for the info.
