Running issues

Hi, I replaced my o2sensor on my 83sc. Now on start up it’s surging rhythmically- when it warms up it goes away, but the motor surges at lower rpms. When Im on the gas it seems to run fine but at low constant speed it bucks horribly. Any thoughts. Thanks in advance. Ps I’ve been working on vacum leaks and thought I was good on that issue.thanks dave

Smoke, please tell us why you replaced your O2 sensor and how it ran before? Thanks, John/CT

its running too rich

check your control pressures then set the mixture

do a tune up first, plugs cap rotor and timing.

Surging on startup has nothing to do with your 02 sensor since it hasn't had enough time to warm up to make enough voltage for the computer to work with. You would notice it surging even if the 02 were disconnected.

I do agree, it is way too rich.

Cheers,
Joe
