Cool

I was at the Cimmeron Tech clinic when this subject came up.

Paternick said that what they do is slit the cover with a razor blade along the seam. The then insert a piece of High Density foam and reseal with crazy glue.

My wife did interiors for living for a while. She told me, "Take them up to Ronnie's and give him $25 with a twelve pack of coca cola. Then don't complain about them any more!"

Good luck,
David Duffield

Make a leather cover using the old plastic cover as a template over a foam covered Masonite sub-structure. Sew it together and turn it inside out, slip it over the foam covered frame and hand stitch the end closed. Glove leather would be real sexy.

I actually got mine from Pelican:

Sun Visors

The ones for an 80SC had been replaced by the versions for the 964. They fit great and are exactly what I was looking for.

At $150 to $200 for new ones, if you can't get them fixed the way you want, I would go to a wrecing yard or a swap meet. I picked up a single sun visor last year in good condition for just $20.

Tried the foam, even made a 'form' from mdf to keep the visor evenly flat (instead of the patented and much used 'book' method). Took 24 hours to set and just a few weeks to unset - even worse than before, bloated like dead fish. Florida, Targa and expanding foam did not work well.

Bought a pair of repros in the end, wish I had done it earlier...
