Photoshop Request - polish my Fuchs

Trying to decide if I should have Al Reed do the full polish on my new Fuchs, or the more traditional matt finish. Can anyone do a quick Photoshop drop in of 15" polished wheels? Thanks a bunch.

I vote for black painted insets, even though you didn't ask.

Right, I didn't mean the full polished wheel. Just like the ones you have. But the polished part can be either a highly polished look or the more traditional factory look.

Not that you were asking, but that's a pretty car and I would leave it as-is

The difference between polished and anodized is more pronounced in photos, which make the polished wheels seem as shiny as chrome. If authenticity isn't your priority, then there are advantages to each. I personally like that polished ones can have minor blemishes 'polished' out without having to resurface the entire wheel.

i think for each car is different

jacks car looks nice with chrome since the rest of the car is black...black and shiney go good together

you car is a vintage racer and the awesome paint draws enough attention...I'd like to see OEM finish with black background on yours

and on the SC models the full black centers look the best...polished rims...there is too much black rubber on the car...not enough chrome trim

then again I have all black 7/9's on my SC...if I ever put them on the ST i want to build I will go OEM finish black background

Painted insets are for Hot Wheels, Jack.

Mark--sorry I mis-read your post.
These wheels are polished, but not very clear in the pic. I'm having them done to original factory specs in anondized. My polished wheels need to be buffed every now and then.

Thanks elbean, Jack and everyone else.

And the winner is.... anodized. I want to stay period correct for a 68 race car.

Thanks again!

Mark,
With your last post in mind, have you contacted Al about him doing the anodizing? I am considering the dual anodized treatment and have not heard if he does that type of work. Just wondering.

Mark,

If you are going to race your car....why not get "easy care" as part of the package....

Have Al do your wheels with a satin powdercoat instead of anodized..... I've seen them (Rodd Wagner up here in Seattle did it...), and it's REALLY easy to keep clean, and the appearance is really close to the anodized finish.

Your other option is to go with Weidmans RSR finish, which is a true "matt" finish (sandblasted), anodized, and the lip can be done in the original style anodized finish....that's what's on my 67S

I can get you a close-up if you want..... or we can stop by sometime,

Eric,
If you don't mind, I would like to see a closeup. Did Al do your RSR finish or someone else?
Thanks in advance,

I'd do the polish, but I'm with Jack- paint the insets black. I've got full-polished on my car for a short period longer-I hope to paint the insets in the next couple of weeks. Too much like Bling Bling with the full polished look.

I usually prefer the polished w/ black background on 911's. But, I like Gary's suggestion/pic with the all black. Reminds me of an orange ST pictured in the book Porsche Legends.

Hmmm, so many choices.

The wheels that are currently on the car will be used for racing and track when dry, with R compound tires. The new wheels will get Yokohama AVS ES 100's - 205/60/15 for driving on the street or wet autox and track days.

Gary, I talked to Al about the anodized treatment, but not the dual.

Neophyte question - what are the issues with maintenance on the anodized treatment.

Eric, if you ever decide to sell, please let me know! Do you get any hassles from the cops about your yellow headlight lenses? Also, if you have any more driving lights for sale please email me.

Thanks

Here's the RSR finish that Harvey Weidman does.....about $175 a copy....more expensive than Al Reed, but a more time consuming process..(multi finishes). Note that Al can't do this finish yet.

Well....doesn't that look nice......never happened before, but I haven't posted pics since the recent attachment "changes". Let's try that again.
