one more time but very specific! 3,2 US vs EU engine

hi friends,

sorry to bother with this question but didn't find the answer i was looking for in the research ....

i have a US 3,2 carrera with the 207 ps engine and of cours low compression pistons

this winter i will refresh the car an i wanted to do the same with the engine ( 187.000 miles).... as i can get very cheap P&C EU specific new, i was thinking about this change

so my question is :

if i want to change my engine to EU specificity (231ps) ..... can i change just the P&C or do i need to change other parts ??
will also change the chip with a SW chip of course

thanks
steve

Steve,
Depending on the year and actual variant the differences between the 3.2 engines is limited to compression ratio, ecu, exhaust (cat or non cat) and air injection.

By changing to higher compression p&c's and installing a Steve Wong chip I expect you would at least achieve the higher power rating.

Probably the next cost effective modification would be to change the mufflers to a bypass pipe and either a M&K or Monty or Dansk Motorsport at the rear.

You may be able to get the "bigger" SSI (see thread elsewhere at Pelican), at a good price as that is also coming out of Europe. I suspect that would add some power as well.

thanks, my 3,2 is from 1984 with the standard US engine
being located in Europe i have already taken away the cat, put headers and a B&B exhaust 2in 2out plus a SW chip... have 98ron gas here

but while doing the engine i thought that changing to the european pistons that would be a nice idea if i have not to modifie other parts .

thanks for the answers
steve
