Squared door mirror cannot stand still
Hello,
I have a 911 1974 2700 with the squared cromed door mirror. By the time is getting harder and harder to put in place - cannot stand still. Keep moving by itself....any suggestion how to fix it? (I would like to keep it and not buying another one). Thank you, Luca

pry out the plastic trim carefully and extract the glass mirror. Behind this glass is a nut sitting on a spring and ball socket. You have to tighten the nut.

Hello,
finally I got time to do it but it seems a little bit complicate - I'm afraid to damage the gasket. Do you have any suggestion for that (like which tool to use, where to start, etc...). Thank you, Luca

I bought these for my Rat Rod, and loved them. But in less than a year they were corroding. ESP the shaft between the foot and the mirror body. I need to go back to Porsche and get new ones. Luckily my dealer is very good about things like that.
I think it’s like the hood badges, the quality control has gone down hill, maybe production has moved to Asia or something. A friend has purchased and had to return several badges.....as they fall appart within 6 months.

Getting the mirror and plastic retainer is not easy. I broke my mirror in the process.

Well, mine is the original one..it's perfect, mint conditions but is sagging on a side

Are these different than the 73? I tighten it through the hole at the bottom.

Hi again and Happy New Year!
Today: no kids no wife perfect day to fix some things on my car - among the other the side mirror. The stupid mirror has been put in place (see pictures) with bolts not parallel to the accessing holes - what's the magic trick or tool to remove them? I can't succed with my wrench since the accessing holes are kind of narrow.
