Ignition switch.....switch?
Hi everybody, I have a simple question. I broke the part circled in the photo while I was running new wiring. Can anyone verify please that the sole purpose of this switch is to verify that the key is removed from the ignition? I believe that this is the case, but since I found the switch broken, I realize that my alarm doesn't arm properly. I had to go through the process of mating the remote again, but this morning it refused to arm again. Anyway, if the switch is just for reminding me that the key is still in the ignition, I can move on in my quest.....
Thanks

I don't know for sure b/c I don't have an alarm, but this schematic seems to backup your suspicion.
The dwg shows a pair of pins together and away from the others, and it shows option 533, which is the Alarm option. This is for an '87 BTW. I did not look up the other option number, but the schematic shows these wires also go to the Seat Belt Control unit (which I do have), and it may be involved with the doors switches as well.

Thanks, I think that its just a buzzer for door when the key is left in, but I'll have to wait till the weekend to verify. It's a after market alarm. I might have pulled something else too that I don't see. Thank you again for the response.

yes those extra terminals are for the key in Buzzer. the factory alarm on the 84 does not tie into the key in ignition contact.

Thank you. I'd like to see if I can get it back in place, but I'm not willing to pull the ignition switch to do it...for the near future, at least.
