Great work as always Al. Does the 3.5 build use separate air cleaners or does a plenum go between the two sets of stacks? Is there a benefit to either method of drawing air into the horns?

This is my plot, pretty much back to back, with plenum plotted in the thicker lines.

Thank you! As Al says, very interesting indeed. I'll have to go through your whole thread.

Did you drive both set-ups or just dyno? If you did drive them both, any thoughts on character of each?

RSBob 05-24-2019 08:37 PM

Ahem..... not to belabor the subject of the thread but... not that I am inpatient however we might need a Mrs Jeff intervention.

Unfortunately not - it was setup with common plenum on the lower comp pistons, then changed to stacks on high comp pistons and twins plug.

I can say the second phase which also added the Eisenmann made a marked difference above 4k, it hits the limiter with ease.

Below 4k it doesn’t feel that much different at all to the plenum and lower comp piston setup. The plenum gave it a GT3 style howl, however there is more of a roar with the stacks and ITG filters.

Thanks Shirish, good to know.

leak-down......

This engine turned out right......after tuning on the test stand, I did a leak-down test.....and I've only seen results this good once before, so these are better than could be hoped for. (keep in mind that the accuracy of the test equipment is +/- 2%....but still great results)

Also, for the last 2 years or so, I've been using the engine sealing kit sold by Henry at SuperTech (available through Pelican) and I have to say that I recommend the kit and method highly.

Now, i'm installing the Rasant wiring harness and once the tranny has some work done, it will all be installed back into the Carrera.........getting a little closer.

regards,
al

Too funny. Since I am on my 3rd, you may be onto something. Al, looks look like credit and reimbursement of attorneys fees is waaaay over due.

al lkosmal 05-30-2019 11:49 AM

rick....I give you all the credit in the world.....for amassing the attorney's fees....

Al
Forgive me if this has already been covered but is there a reason it's using PMO ITB's and Rasant and not your ITB's and MS?
I am about to start on a 2.8 ITB COP possibly MS3x and have been to your website frequently and am planning to contact you as soon for some much needed advice, direction, moral support...
Thanks
Tony Moore
