Mounting rear sway bar- hints
Remounting the rear sway bars on my '72. Any tricks to getting the rear arm bushing on the ball mounted on the banana? Not much room to use a rubber mallet or bigger channel locks...

I use a large C clamp across the trailing arm. YOu will need a block of wood on the backside to pull square. Takes a few minutes to crank it down.
I usually have the sway bar disconnected from the drop link.

I used a C clamp and a piece of scrap plastic lumber to prevent the clamp from slipping off.

I assume the other side is in place? you could try taking the wheel off and that might lighten the load on the trailing arm and get it closer. looks like the car is on a lift? when mine was like that it was on jackstands, both wheels off so I simply put a floor jack under the trailing arm on the other side, loaded it by jacking it up some and was able to tap in into the socket.

Works like magic! I was tired of bruising my knuckles and started looking around the workshop for what might work. I'm glad it was useful!

Also, heat the bushing up with a heat gun or hair driver. 10x easier when warm.
