15 inch tires

Anyone with any suggestions for where I can find a set of 15 inch "old school" looking tires?

The rims are 15X7 with the same offset on all 4

A lot of good options. An inexpensive and good looking tire is the dunlop direza They make a few sizes in 15X7 - a 205/50 or 205/55 or 195/60 would work for narrowbody midyear.

What year is the Targa? If it's an SC you have a lot more options. Tire rack is a great place to look.

205/70R15 would have the correct 70's sidewall height and look more retro:

For a non SC/Carrera oe would have been 6ET36x15 w/ 285/70 x15 tires, these tires could be stretched on to a 7 though not w/ the manufacturers blessing.

185/70 x15 is a 25.7" tall tire

3.2 Carrera uses 195/65 x15 on the same 6" wheels, these are 25.1" od tires, these can also be fitted to 7s

the best match in od to the above 2 choices is the 205/60 x15 which is a 24.7" od tire and also works well on a 7

any other size is either too tall or too short

Odd that an '89 Carrera would have 7s all around, oe would have been 6 & 7 x15 w/ 195/65 & 215/60 tires these sizes could also be used w/ a 4x7 setup

The rims I'm using were supposedly custom made for a guy doing SCCA racing and I was hoping to do something similar to a Michelin TB15 , but I guess I'll have to end up using modern tires to get the wider rear size?

The story is the guy took old narrow Porsche steel rims, cut the centers out and welded to some 7 inch wide rims from something else. To the best of my abilities they measure 15X7, 85mm centers, 4 3/4 inch backspacing, and either 3/4 or 3 1/4 inch offset (I'm not sure the correct way to measure offset?)

I currently run 225-50 ZR15 Toyo Proxes R888R on front and back on 7" and 8" Mahle rims and they look fine. These are my track tires. I got them this way from a forum member with RA1's years ago and he liked that he could rotate them front/back for wear. They look nice and fat and work great.

??? the only Michelin TB15 spec'd for a 7 is the 18/60 wich is roughly equivalent to a 215/55 x15 tire, specs are 24.1" od & ~8.8" s/w when mounted on a 7

Is the wheel ET 23.2 like a 7" Fuchs would have?

Here are some tall 15s to consider, you'll have to decide the stagger you want to use

Yep I think I’m going with those same 185/70/15 Avon’s as well for my 73 hot rod. Currently running Dunlop 55’s and need a higher profile as my ride height is a bit too low and many early long hood friends are running the Avon’s as well.
