how easily should my engine turn (manually)
while I was timing my cams I found that I had "bumps" as i turned the crank...
I would add a little more tension to the belt and it would go over the "hump" is this normal??? or should it turn completely smoothly throughout the cycle?? I don't know if it is a rocker going over a cam lobe or is I am making contact with the piston...i triple checked my timing and I octaple check my valve adjustment... thanks MJ |

Are your spark plugs in or out? If they are in, you are basically fighting compression on each stroke and the "bumps" are normal. The motor will rotate easier with the plugs out because the air has somewhere to go on the compression stroke. Even if they are out, you will not have a smooth, constant pressure while turning.
