Impulsive buying and bidding fever!
Edit...emotional buy/sell......argh! Same reason why the market sucks, and I'll eat Raman noodles when I retire...started my professional life eating them post college....will end up eating them post career. Someone help me with some good financial advice. The best advice might be getting rid of the parts hungry 911

Chroming is supposed to compromise the integrety of the alloy. I would not consider buying a set of Fuchs that had been chromed. I think Souk's explanation is more plausible though, because most Ebay buyers are a bunch of uninformed hammer-headed dickweeds. And I am unanimous in that.

Better watch that Ramen Souk! That MSG will mess you up good!!!
![]() Seriously, Mark and Souk hit the nail on the head. I've been watching wheel ads for weeks. All it takes is one dunderhead to screw up an auction for the others. Too many dunderheads and then the market value changes!!!! If people would just pick a set price they want for something and stick to that price.......... Instead one just keeps upping the bid until he becomes the high bidder. People act like the item they're bidding on is a one of a kind. Sorry, but that's not the case with Fuchs wheels. There is ALOT of them out there!!!! I am determined to get some 7's for a fair price. I've seen it done!!!!! Just a matter of time. If it doesn't happen on eBay (which is entirely likely), Hershey will be my next opportunity.

Wouldn't the original equipment on a 78- 89 be 16X6 and 16X7, not 16X7 and 16X8. Me thinks the items were mislabled?

You're right Magilla about what was original, but those certainly are 7's and 8's.
But you could say that 7's were original for the rears of 78-88 911's and 8's were original for the rear of an 89. Ad is kinda vague in that sense

I think you guys are missing a more practical explanation... just having bought something off Ebay.
I had been looking on Ebay for four months for a particular component - When I found it, I was willing to go into a bidding war to get it. But it takes two people for a war. If someone else had the same need as I did, voila - A bidding war. However - If a similar auction comes out two days later - and only one person really wants it - voila - NO war - and cheaper winning bid. The question: Can you wait for the next one to come up for auction, or do you have to have it now? In my case, I had been looking for four months, and I was willing to go to war. My competitor backed off early. Funny thing, after I won my bid, another component similar (but slightly better) to the one I bid on went up for bid. Oh well, that's life. My final advice - As the auction begins, set a maximum price that you will pay and do not exceed it.

I would also say that 2 major contributing factors could be that seller #1 has a zero feedback rating (& 'shades' which could be masking previous negative comments) & is based in Canada.
Did anyone else also notice the similarity of the ad wording in both cases? - even down to the identical spelling mistakes! - probably the second seller copied the wording from the first. Andy '69 911E----------->R

The way I do it? I log on and watch the auction 'til the very end. I have my set price and I put it in (if the current price is still below my set price) with like 10 sec. to go. If I get it I get it. If not? Too bad for me. Next time............

KTL,
wake up earlier, I found my 7"s on this site early in the morning looking in the classified area. I know ther were others because a 1/2-1hr later there were guys asking if I didn't get them they wanted them. It took me about two weeks here, as apposed to a couple of months on E-Bay. Two - 7's for 300.00 from a member here. Good Luck!

If I wake up any earlier (4:45) I shouldn't bother going to bed!
I know they're here. Just not at the moment. I landed a couple sets of 6's on here for decent prices. A while back. The plan for the 6's isn't panning out so now i'm looking for a pair of 7's until I can use the 6's. So, I don't really need a nice set of 7's and trying to get 'em for minimal cost. I got a line on a few sets lately so we'll see what happens. Thanks,

KTL,
I'll have a pair of 6"s as soon as my car comes back from paint and Al Reed does his magic on the other pair of 6's. Let me know if you need some pics, they are Fuchs with the standard finish.
