As carbs fade into history, I’m glad you’re training folks on the care and feeding of these mechanical marvels. Mentoring is a wonderful thing!

I so much wish something like this was located in Texas. Is this for people who have experience with experience or can complete beginners partake?

I provide a detailed explanation of carburetor operational theory and each participant has their own cut-away Weber that has been sectioned to visually see the various galleries and jetting features. These hands-on carbs along with the large prints from Weber documents allow a strong correlation of the physical to the theoretical. Each participant has a booklet that has the same drawings so that re-connection with the physical is facilitated after the event. The booklet (and a flash drive with the same material) includes all info discussed in the class: Weber history, carb operational theory, recommended tools, disassembly, inspection, component blueprinting, re-assembly, performance modifications, troubleshooting and on-engine tuning.

After the theoretical discussion I review disassembly, inspection of components, blueprinting of those items needing refurbishment, reassembly and finally the participants get to personally adjust the Weber's idling performance on my test engine including: idle air flow balancing, idle mixture adjustment and float level setting. The engine is outfitted with AFR gauge and Colortune tools to allow observation of the carburetor/engine during adjustments. This portion seems to be the highlight of the session.

Although I have not been asked about Zenith or Solex carbs for the 911 I can support questions regarding these. However, carburetors are rather similar in operation and once the theoretical has been discussed the info may successfully be applied to other carbs.

So, the answer to the question regarding may anyone participate is a solid "Yes"!

Please have a look at the web page regarding the Tech Session to see a couple of images from past events showing the intimate "classroom" discussions followed with on-engine tuning:

Will you be holding these in 2020? I see that September is the last one this year but would not be possible for me to make a trip during that time frame. I would be interested in going another time from Dallas.

Youtube videos and online articles can only do so much for me. I would very much benefit from an in-person tech session.

No plans for 2020, I expect to not do so.
