Mice Swear word

I was looking in my frunk today and found that some mice are trying to build a home. They had chewed up the instructions I left from a strut brace and also had taken a large amount of my car duster from the rear foot well all the way to the frunk.

Any ideas how to keep them away? I have no idea how long this has been going on. I usually don't go into the frunk. The car has been driven weekly and last couple of weekends I've been working in the engine bay.

BTW, I looked the glove compartment and no evidence there.

poison 'place packs'. Don't open them...just put them along a wall behind something.
'Just One Bite' is a common one.

Take some batts of steel wool and place them in small plastic shopping bags. Then fit that into the usual holes/entry points of the frunk. They won't try to munch their way in through the steel wool, and the plastic bag insulates the steel wool from the chassis to deter any possible rusting.

Allegedly Irish Spring soap works - so I placed it under and around my car. Don't know yet if it works with rodents, but my wife won't go near it.
Closed the heater boxes
Put dog toy in muffler tip
Put cover on car

Irish spring doesn't work. I put a bar in my Honda last year after discovering mice. A couple weeks ago I rediscovered the bar. It was half gone with dozens of mouse-sized teeth grooves where they'd chewed it/eaten it. I think I'll skip the soap next time.

I've used "Just One Bite" bars with great success. The bars have a hole
through the center, and I run a coat hanger wire through it so I can anchor the bait to somewhere solid. That keeps the critter from dragging
the bait elsewhere and also lets you know they are eating it. After the
rat/mouse dies, they just sort of dehydrate to a dried up shell.

I had my 964 in for its 60K service recently. I live in the boondocks and, sure enough, a huge pile of detritus was made into a rodent nest on top of the left middle and rear cylinders. No signs of the little crappers anywhere else in the car so I had no reason to worry about them. Moral of my story: if mice are even remotely a potential problem check this critical area periodically and be prepared to go to war. Snap traps and poison are what works, everything else is old wives tales and gimmicks.

Mice swear at this contraption when they hit the 5” of water in the bottom. Pulled out two swimmers yesterday. Well they had stopped swimming. I have 2 of these in the corners of the garage. About 20 hit the pool last year. I have them in the corners since they like to travel along the walls. Put bait blocks in the frunk but they usually don’t make it past pool time. Peanut butter is just too tempting.

Put those ultrasonic repellers in my wood shop, mice built a condo within 3 ft of it. They weren't cheap either.

Red Fox scent. Google it. Not a pleasant odor. But.....absolutely no varmint within a 100 feet of the source. Great protection for a P car in extended / seasonal storage. Put a few drops on the garage floor by each tire.
