Ignition Harness Issue
I am having an issue with installing a new ignition harness on my 911SC, which I am sure others have run into.
I am backdating the heating system to eliminate the blower in the engine compartment. I know lots of others have done this. The problem is that the Beru harness for the SC has straight connectors that go into the distributor cap. #2 and #6 are interfered with by the configuration of the new (old style) LH hot air spigot. #6 could possibly be made to plug in, but there is no way #2 will. It appears to me (looking at the pictures in our host's catalog) that the harness for the later Carrera 3.2 has right angle connectors at the distributor and should work fine. Does anyone have any experience with this?

I'm not sure what you mean by "ignition harness". Post a picture.

I’m guessing he means spark plug wires.
May need to adjust the clearance to the distributor on the duct as most need to do. This has been posted in most backdate threads.

You need to get the turbo tube for that side, it gives clearance for the plug wires and distributor cap.

To clarify, here are some pics of the area. I can't find where I ordered it, but can anyone identify the air socket part I have?

Likely you have one for a ‘73 or earlier. They need to be adjusted for the distributor cap and wires to clear by cutting and welding it, or by creating a depression in the area with a hammer.
(I used the hammer method)

Backdating Heat - Questions?
Shows difference in original and one with clearance for dizzy. A little extreme, (maybe needed for a 3.2 ) I didn’t need to make that much room on my 3.0.

I have the same part. Just reshaped it with a body hammer and repaint. You need good clearance with the HT leads or the spark will jump to the tin.

You can see where I modified mine. Some careful work with a hammer and dolly, some sanding and paint and you will be good to go.
