Bought my first 911 a few months ago - '82 SC - and have really been enjoying it.
I didn't realize it came with an alarm until it was too late! After a few months of driving with no issue, I hit a bump (not major) and set it off. It did not effect the vehicle's operation. It now will go off periodically when I hit a road imperfection, or when opening the passenger side door. I know i pushed the button in the door jamb a few times when i first got the car and nothing happened. I was able to disable the alarm by simply removing the fuse under the hood. The alarm does not have a remote, and also, there is a factory alarm key hole in the door as well, though i did not get a key with it. PO said he doesn't know there was an alarm. questions 1) anyone know how to activate or deactivate this with the button pictured? would be nice to preserve some of its functionality, in the off chance i just programmed it to "doors" or "Motion" accidentally 2) is yanking the fuse an OK longer term solution? i don't hear any whining, clicking, or any dash lights that suggest I've affected the electronics. 3) Anything to be weary of when removing it all together? thanks! rich ![]() ![]() |
