Euro ride height

Just found this 74 911 on craigslist and thought I'd post it since nobody seems to know what euro height actually looks like:

https://images.craigslist.org/00707_gMu9LFfjZqZ_1200x900.jpg

By the way, if anyone knows how to embed a craigslist image to this post, let me know. All I know is how is to copy and paste. Better yet, if you could fix it for me, even better.

Cheers,

Joe

Actual factory Euro height is higher than what people in the US implement when they say Euro height. The actual spec is well defined:

Americans drop it below that for looks and, IMHO, it is not a good thing for street driving.

Lots of threads on the topic. This one seems informative: Euro ride height question

Do a search using the terms ride height euro fender. The correct way is above. If you have stock size tires measuring the fender height is a short cut.

No matter how you go about this, an alignment and corner balance will be needed if you change your ride height. You also need to verify you have sufficient suspension travel and your steering geometry is correct.

If done properly, you can have a lowered car and a decent ride. The devil is in the details.

Mine is below “euro” height but the shop that did it ensured I had adequate ground clearance for city streets, my steering geometry was correct and my suspension travel was adequate.

The most important thing is to look good. And that car doesn't look good.

The correct stance thread gives a good indication of "Euro ride height" and below.

It may be that the tires have shorter than standard sidewalls. Factory sizes are per the factory owner's manual from 1974 165HR15, 185/70VR15 or 215/60VR15. A 205/60-15 will work as well.

Hi Harry,

I like what you did but still cannot figure how you did it! You must be a magician.

I know it's a matter of personal taste, but I really like the looks of the factory euro height:

Garage
That 74 just needs a skid plate, some knobby tires and lights all over the hood and it's ready to traverse the streets of LA

The only cars w/ raised suspension were the US versions from '75 to '83(look for front height ~99mm+/

You'll also note that the factory RS 3.0 went down to 143mm+/- and the same year RSR was @ 160mm

I think the reaction to Louise Piech's Turbo ride height (which is true correct Euro ride) is due to the US mania on slammed cars.
