Reference sensor question

I'm doing some work on a 1990 964 C4. While the engine is out I want to change the two reference sensors. On my '88 I replaced them using the BMW part, cost a lot less. Does any one know if a BMW sensor is a direct replacement. If so which one. Thanks.

A 964 has only one sensor, so you can save some money!

Why replace something that isn't broken?

Yes only one, but its $288.00 hoping to save a few $$$ The cyl head temp is half the price of the crankcase reference sensor. The crankcase is the one I'm trying to find the BMW replacement for.

It will not last forever. Replace that sensor, and all the fuel hoses and other things unless they have been done recently. Double check the intake bolts, clean everything. Replace any rubber boots that are hard.
