@83, yep. Primary = tube that connects to head. When they get combined it's called the collector.

Tom_in_NH 06-22-2023 12:56 PM

Great to hear that you've found the issue!

kevbo 06-23-2023 01:59 AM

Nice way to "finish" this project out. Congrats!

ADDvanced 06-23-2023 06:51 AM

Thanks guys, I celebrated by having the starter conk out, and having to pop start it at work to get home. Neat. lol.

ADDvanced 08-06-2023 10:28 AM

Turned out one of the starter cables was just loose, tightened it up and she's been smooth sailing ever since! I have had some issues hot starting, but overall the car has been great, taken it on countless 1-2 hour drives with no issues.

Welllll time for updates, I spose.

The 911 broke down at the end of last september, video here:

I had it towed home, and haven't touched it since. Time to get it back on the road.

The failure was the throttle linkage pivot shaft on the side of the 915; it snapped right off the trans. I've found some exploded views, but am I correct in assuming this just threads into the case?

911obgyn 05-18-2024 06:23 AM

Yes it threads into the case.
On an old VW I Jb welded the piece back on, not sure if it was a throttle cable or clutch had a few threads left it was years ago…

So .... yeah, I realized I had all the parts, ordered them a few months ago, tossed the box in the car.

Opened up the box.... one of the bags had a sticker and barcode, but no part! WTF pelican? This will be an interesting call on Monday morning.

Whoever is filling those bags in the warehouse lately is failing. I received two of these little baggies with the right part number and the wrong parts.

Get that hooptie running, Rob! It's targa season

ADDvanced 05-21-2024 01:08 PM

Workin on it! Pelican is sending me another throttle ball cup and hopefully it will be more than an empty bag.

I have one last issue before I can get the car on the road: The ball itself snapped off from the throttle lever located on top of the engine, this is the part:

Is there a place to buy just that ball? It looks like it threads into the lever? I just need that ball and then it's time to rip!

You can buy a ball and socket joint from McMaster Carr but probably not just the ball.

Cut the old ball off, drill it out and either weld the new one on or secure it with a nut…

shoooo32 05-22-2024 05:38 AM

ooh that's a pain to swap out in a car, but doable.

ADDvanced 06-25-2025 02:09 AM

So I've been dailying my car all summer, and it's been great, but on hot days once I park it, it won't start. I have to pop the airbox cover, and flip the air plate up with my finger, and then it will start.

What gives? Other than that issue she is running great. Keep in mind I replaced my injectors, and every hose on the CIS system, and sealed the hell out of the airbox.

shoooo32 06-25-2025 05:42 AM

Try unplugging the metering plate switch and see if it will fire. I had a hot start issue where the fuel pump wasn't energized while cranking because of an electrical issue. In the run position, the fuel pump operated normally.

Showdown 06-25-2025 10:18 AM

I can’t recall if this was/is a cis engine but if it is then it’s probably a loss of residual pressure that’s causing the issue.

This can be a lot of things but in my case I found that the o-ring in the fuel distributor pressure regulator valve was nicked and that was enough to make the residual oil pressure drop within a few mins as opposed to the hour or so it’s supposed to hold.

If you have a cis pressure testing kit that will tell you for sure if it’s pressure loss and then you can look for the culprit.

It may be as simple as a check valve or bad o-ring.
