Some will like it some will not.
I had carrera badge on my 911s and few paint blemishes .
What to do what to do?

So I had carbon fiber wrap and after removing the badge I went to wrap the engine cover.
I bet it adds minimum 25bhp.

I did something similar! I have an 86 911 but I just really like the looks of the ducktail on one of these cars. It seems like it just fills out the lines properly but I didn't want to permanently change my stock decklid so I ordered one of the fiberglass replicas and wrapped it with a matte grey vinyl. I put some stripes on the hood and a Carrera on the side to match. I call it my "budget backdate". It's all easily reversible if I get tired of it but I like it!

How did you wrap the duck? I’ve been wanting to do this for years but didn’t see any way to do it. Shoot, I’d even pay someone (a small fee) to do it.

I'm a fan of what has been presented so far in this thread. Some people get out of control with the wrap material. Both supersignman and kavadarci have presented a well thought out plan. Looks great.

What I did first was the gas cover as I have scratch on it and went from there.
Hopefully this doesn’t ruin the story so far :-)

I'm actually in the sign business so I've had some experience wrapping but I think most people who are fairly handy could wrap a duck tail with the new vinyls available today after watching a Youtube video or two. The modern vinyl adhesives and formulations make it literally 10 times easier to wrap cars than it used to be several years ago. You can pull the adhesive up and put it back down several times without messing it up and there are tiny air release channels built into the adhesive so it's about impossible to get bubbles anymore. I used the Avery Supreme Wrapping Film, Charcoal Matte metallic. Anyone can purchase it on signwarehouse.com. I also used the knifeless tape system on the hood to get the stripes to follow the body lines without taking a chance on cutting into the paint. Look that up too. Basically, for about $150, anyone car buy enough of the best quality vinyl and knifeless tape to wrap their deck lid and hood with plenty of extra left over for mess-ups and some extra stripes too.

I totally agree with the above.
I used the knifeless lines on my merc.
But but if there is one thing I can not do that is the freaking mirrors. I’ve tried and failed multiple times.

Koizumi, it must be a combination of the contrasting color and the camera angle because the fit on the ducktail is actually really bad. The matte wrap and the color helps to keep your eye from noticing but I was really glad my goal was to make an outlaw/rat rod 911 because I would not have been happy if I had planned to having a nice car and painting it to match. I'm guessing a good body shop would charge at least as much as the ducktail cost to get it to fit right if they would even tackle it. They'd probably tell you to send that piece of junk back and bring them something they could work with. From reading on the forums here, I think there is somebody in Florida that will fabricate a ducktail onto your existing factory trunk lid. That definitely sounds like the way to go.
